Dude gets hit in the head for a living, and I mean uses his head as his defense, and you are surprised he has brain damage?

I think Cotto is just too ballsy basically. Maybe he isn't smart

Well the story is that he wanted an immediate rematch with Paul Williams after the 1st fight and Williams decided to take some time off to set up with a fight with Kermit Cintron. I BELIEVE Kermit got "hurt" and then Quintana stepped in while Kermit "recovered" and took on Margo and the rest is history.

That's the justification a lot of people give for Margo turning down a rematch with Williams nowadays. That he's returning the favor to Williams, as they say.

Of course he wasn't a threat for Floyd but in the division you had to deal with that man to be taken seriously and that's what EVERYONE agreed to before the fight happened, let's face it, Mayweather's move to Welterweight had the undisputed title as a major reason which is why he was already hooked to fight Zab when he made that move yet both had to take care of two tune-ups, Zab's tune-up was also his WBC mandatory. Zab's failure in that fight is Baldomir and at least some credit should be given there for a man who stood there taking serious punches everyone expected him to drop and drop hard from after a round or two.

In the long run Baldomir will be remembered as a former undisputed Welterweight champion and the #1 fighter in that division for as long as he reigned and people will also remember who beat him just like they will remember who Zab beat for the same spot and so on. These things may be laughed at right now but that's how it works in boxing and always did, ignoring it because a certain fighter isn't hyped well enough or isn't known well enough is sad, especially for hardcore fans. Casuals saying that is OKAY since they're casuals and aren't expected to know such fighters or such situations. Sadly sometimes things are looked at as if it's a popularity contest and not an actual boxing match.

About the Diaz>Casamayor argument, there was nothing in my post that pointed at being BETTER, they meet in the ring to decide that of course but in terms of POSITION in a division, yes Diaz had the same position as Casamayor did, that doesn't mean he's better than him, hell no. Also, this doesn't mean Baldomir is better than Margarito and others in the division, he had a higher position than them at the time just like DLH/Mosley/Forrest and the rest did.

Margo is a fool. He thinks he's some mega star with only one good win under his belt and is clearly over valuing his worth. He's no PBF, Hatton or Oscar he can't demand the type of money they get. This guy has become the laughingstock of boxing turning down fight after fight what a joke from the so called "most feared my in boxing" this guy is a complete fake. What happened to "I fight for pride and honor" he's gone hollywood.

I just hate those sort of arguments. People always use it to justify a stance that doesn't make sense.

As for how Baldo will be remembered, I don't think he will be to be honest  It was just a nice way for Floyd to add some titles. Obviously it isn't HIS fault that the fight got spoiled with Zab but alas, que sera sera.

You know that's all a load of bull**** man.

If Margarito's attempt to make a rematch was good enough then we would all hear about it like we're hearing about Williams' career high payday offers and trash talk thrown at Margarito. Did we see ANYTHING like that from Margarito after the loss?, any numbers on what they were offering?, any official note?, anything official straight out of Arum's mouth about desperately trying to make a rematch like we are seeing from Goossen?. The answer is a fat NO.

What we read was Arum admitting he never wanted the Williams fight since he already had Cotto and Margarito in plan to fight each other yet Williams FORCED that fight to happen by becoming Margarito's mandatory. After the loss they created a load of bull**** about how they were silently ducked and moved on with the actual plan, Miguel Cotto.

It's very easy to figure out and doesn't even require Arum coming out and admitting it. The reason he did admit is because he wants Williams to basically **** off and stop sending offers both teams KNOW won't make the rematch unless they desperately need it which they don't at the moment.

Pride seeking mammoth who will fight peanuts if he needs to when legacy is on the line?, oh hell no.

Still beat a guy who was officially the #1 Welterweight and lineal champion, also undisputed if he paid the fees for the rest of the belts, which he didn't. Can't ignore that and an accomplishment like that will be remembered, let's face it he beat Zab Judah, a big name in boxing and since Judah holds that loss and not just any loss, his WBC/WBA/IBF title loss then yes I assure you he will be remembered. In a popularity contest he won't, but in a serious boxing discussion he will.

    Where is he going?

At 160, he would lose all his advantages and he might get killed there.

He didn't OFFER a rematch but he wanted one. He felt he was robbed and screamed about wanting a rematch. He wanted to get another fight but Williams wanted some time off.

Williams most certainly was not the plan however post fight Arum DID want a rematch. As did Margarito. Remember Margarito refusing to shake his hand after the fight? Margarito spent four months crowing for a Williams rematch but Williams decided he wanted some time off.

As for any actual offers, I don't know if there was one. Then again since when do we need ACTUAL offers to call someone out?

For reference see Witter, Junior and Haye, David.

Yet all the insults thrown at Mayweather isn't exaggerrated, huh? :patsch

It's not like Mayweather lost to Margarito and ran away from a rematch like Margarito is doing, this also includes turning down a fight with Mosley because he thinks he's worth more. Sorry but one major win doesn't make him 10million+ material.

We're having one aren't we?

If you want to argue that Baldomir was the #1 WW in the world then hey that's up to you...but at this point the lineal champion has no stock in anything anymore. I don't think belts determine whose the best fighter anymore. All they do is determine who gets the bigger portion of the split.

Nobody will remember Baldomir except in those once every few years when someone says "Remember when that guy beat Zab Judah?"

To which everyone will reply "Which one?

It's also worth noting that Floyd offered Mosley a fight but Mosley turned it down so Oscar could get a shot first.

Just in case we're still playing six ways to between Floyd and Mosley.

The Mayweather ones don't have nothing to do with it but you still bring it up:hey .Anyway at Mayweather there was a different situation.
And Williams ain't fighting at WW for a while now,it's not like he's a WW anymore but yeah Margarito should have fought him.

what completely baffles me is what is going through margarito's brain right now? Margarito turns down shane because he allegedly wants to get revenge on oscar de la hoya, yet odlh is in a fight in like 2 weeks that will atleast bring him in 10 million and shane can move on to fight berto or clottey to make some money maybe not 2 million but shane is already rich anyways. what the hell does Margarito think he is ?

than besides that what does margarito really think he is going to do?
there is no possible way he is fighting odlh
there is no possible way he is fighting floyd
    already denied clottey
    already denied shane
    already denied pw
    berto is to young
    already destroyed cintron
    already destroyed cotto

and fighting quintana and collazo at this point is back tracking... this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

seriously im speechless ... total nonsense

If Floyd came back and challenged him at this point, would he even take it?

Probably still would, I'd venture. But this is very unlike Margo. If we can't count on Mexican warriors to be in it for the glory these days, who do we have left?

I think Margo wants to rematch Cotto first and secure his future with a fight he thinks is favorable for him. There should be huge money in a rematch since the first was such a good scrap.
