Whats worse: Beaten by bricks (allegedly) followed by 1000 punches or ***** street followed by 1000 punches They both got their faces pushed in twice, so haters of either fighter can't really use the excuse "he was softened up" to discredit whoever wins.
They both seem to be being branded as "past-it." I ain't so sure they are and I expect them to prove so in their fight coming up. Yes they've both got losses on their records but I think people are too fast to write them off before they've really been given much of a chance to prove their ability. I'm expecting a thoroughly entertaining, gruelling fight come December, I'll hold jugement till then.
Ya at 150 when Margo was probably 165 on fight night, whereas Cotto was drained down to 145 and still made it to the 12th one fight before moving up to LMW
We won't know until we see him fight again, but taking 400+ punches to the face can't be good for a person.
Margarito got a broken orbital bone & a detached retina, totally damage for the full 12 rounds that he's pushing forward against Pac than Cotto who took a knee with Margarito and who's on a retreat with Pac until 11th round. Margarito is much more damage than Cotto but with proper conditioning, I guess they'll both recover from it both are young so unless they're heart got damage both are still in prime.
Cotto 154 champ, rank by many sites as the top guy in his weight division and his only two loses were against someone who got caught with illegal handwraps and other one who refuses random testing, fought him at 145 with no head trainer, marriage problems, lawsuits, and could have gone 12 rounds, enough said. Cotto has shown what others have lack and perhaps would have call it quits long time if they were in his position:deal
I think Cotto was softened up more. Mainly because I believe Margarito to be a far tougher guy naturally. The damage he's incurred in his losses, probably isn't as bad as Cotto's. Because the only real time where Margarito was busted up brutally, was Pacquiao. Against Cotto he seemed relatively unscathed, and against Mosley, he seemed more exhausted than beaten up. Towards the end he was falling around everywhere because his tired legs, more so than his chin, could no longer stand up to the heavy shots (in my opinion). Not to mention the weight, even at the laughable 153, will favour Margarito more. Cotto is not a 154 fighter.
Ever since Margarito was forced to soften up his hands, he has not been the same. I pick Cotto in the rematch.
