Apply a lot of relentless pressure, don't give him a chance to breathe and take control of the action. Now, what fighters can execute that gameplan effectively without succumbing to Cotto's power?

Torres pressured Cotto and suffered a ko for his efforts albeit he had success with his relentless attack. Not everyone could pull off this type of strategy and I certainly have my doubts that Clottey would be one of them.

Cotto lost the fight, Margo didn't win it.

    This.

Cotto could have beaten Margarito with the right gameplan.

first of all, he didnt "pad his gloves" he put cement in his gloves..

second ,cotto was pressured in the last rounds against a much more talented mosely and beat him because MOSELY DIDNT HAVE CEMENT IN HIS GLOVES!!!

    that is not a blueprint...

to be more specific, margarito used the same stuff they use in arm/leg casts when you break your arm or leg..

imagine having your hand wrapped with gauze then cast plaster then put tape and a leather glove on top of that... now thats a blueprint for success

I would have to say no until someone else beats Cotto in that way all of margo's big wins are tainted and under suspicion.

What proof do you have that Margarito's gloves were tainted during the Cotto fight? none. Look at the size difference between the 2 just based on body structure alone.

There's no need for proof, just be logical and use your brains. If he did it going in against a way paste prime Mosley who's half his size in a fight he's expected to win what makes you think he won't against Cotto in a fight he's the underdog well aware it's his last chance at stardom?

Agreed. If Cotto strategically held, even at a minimum basic rate, against Margarito, a fraction as much as Berto and Cintron did last weekend, especially Berto, Cotto would have beaten Margarito going away, IMO.

The blueprint was having an unbelievable chin and ability to absorb punishment without the slightest adjustment. Other fighters would have a shot at knocking Cotto out, but no one could do it in the fashion that Margarito did, simply walking through all that Cotto had to offer. Mosley is very resilient and Cotto earned his respect when they fought.

Cotto made it to the 11th round, if his stupid ass learnt to clinch he could have gone 12. He employed a pretty terrible game plan, but gave his all and we got a great fight out of it. Its a shame there will never be a rematch though.

Shane Mosley, BTW, claims he laid the blueprint for beating Cotto - but that's a ****ing joke anyway. Anybody who has been following Cotto knows he was never a fan of hard shots and unrelenting persistence. No "blueprint," common sense for the eyes. For years.

so margo waited until 1. he was in his 30s.. 2. already had a title.. 3. and was the favorite.. to illegally put plaster on his hands??

if oyu believe that then your about as gullible as it gets!!!

truthfully if u cheat a little here and there i wouldnt be going out of my way but this piece of **** was putting people lifes on the line almost took off lujan's ear and battered cotto knowing damn well cement was in his glove... **** margo **** margo **** margo **** margo

and i feel sorry for you if you believe that lying piece of trash..

IM SO HAPPY MOSELY ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED HIM WITHOUT HIS CEMENT GLOVES.... MARGO WAS RUNNING AROUND LIKE A SCARED LITTLE PUSS CAUS HE KNEW HE DIDNT HAVE HIS "PADDING" lol lol lol

Takes one hell of a chin and strength to apply that gameplan... but what Margo did do though was expose some of Cotto's defensive gaps which I already knew were there because of the way he holds his guard. High around his temples and elbows out so he's always open for punches down the middle such as uppercuts, and wacks to the rib cage.

get hit with a uppercut with cement gloves and see what type of gameplan you come up with

by the way im not even a fan of cotto i just hate piece of shits that put other people lives on the line just for money!!!

if nothing else he tried to do it to mosely (PROVEN) and to put a man in his 30s in danger of killing him... people have died from loaded gloves it is a very very serious matter...
