Bigreg you say it is smarter to go after Cotto because of money, well Cotto didn't give the guy more money than Paul did in their first fight. Seeing that he lost the last fight, what makes you think he is going to get more than 4 mil from Cotto this time?

 

Margo is a different story he came up the hard way no one was kissing his ass and he fought for peanuts against many a dangerous opponent and has been ducked for years by lots. I dont blame him for wanting to get paid a bit at this point. Why wont Williams fight any other quality fighters! his resume is not the most scintilating and lets face it the guy has a boring style.

Yes Margo has to eventually fight him and he will. But for now maybe there are better paying fights he can engage in. Delahoya is a coward and so Margo cant get his deserved payday and if the rmatch with Cotto is the one that pays him the most why not? then clear up Clottey & Williams and the rest. I see no problem with it at all since its Maragarito.

 

As a fan I really dont want to see Cotto fight Margarito again and would rather see one of them fight Williams (whom I know is a fantastic example for boxing). However, if I were Margarito I would skip the riskier $4 million and fight Cotto or Mosley for $8 million.

 

Don't know if you're being sarcastic but I won't go that far. Cotto was #1 when Margarito got to him and he was a big underdog going into that fight with very few giving him a chance. Even the ones that did got bashed on for it.

However, I do agree that a rematch with Williams is too dangerous at this point and business-wise it will be idiotic to rush Margarito in a fight like this when he finally got the opportunity to get some big fights that will make him some money. Arum will make sure he makes enough money out of him(of course Margarito benefiting as well) then maybe a rematch with Williams will be signed.

 

Goosen generically offered Arum $4M to try borrow on Margarito's newly acquired fame, even though before the Cotto victory Team Williams wanted nothing to do with Margarito. Fascinating, eh? Dan Goosen is about as tactful as a date ******.

Everyone rises the hard way, it's Margarito's losses that made most ignore him in my opinion seeing as he's a risky fighter who won't offer much in return. On paper all that matter is how the record looks like and if there are big wins over quality opposition, that's how they decide that the opponent will bring some good money or not. Now that he beat Cotto and finally got a major win he's getting the big money fights he always wanted. If he beat Williams it won't even be as close as to how popular and recognized he is right now after Cotto.

This also proves that Arum is no joke when it comes to promoting his guys, the way Cotto was becoming popular and how Margarito benefited from that win is the proof even after a loss to Williams.

 

The perfect time for the Margarito-Williams rematch would be at the begining of next year when Margo and Cotto are going to be part of that double header.

 

Yeah and I also recently seen Don King foaming at the mouth and frantically waving a Puerto Rican flag immediately after Santos won that belt in Canada. Then it seemed you could hear Don shouting something about Margarito even after the cameras were turned away.

Margarito wanted an IMMEDIATE REMATCH, Team Williams SAID NO and DID NOT want a rematch.
All of a sudden, Margarito signs to fight what was widely regarded as the BEST WELTERWEIGHT IN THE WORLD IN COTTO, beats Cotto in convincing fashion, and BOOM, team Williams wants a rematch.

If team Williams REALLY wanted a rematch, they would have granted Margarito the rematch when team Margarito asked for it BUT THEY WERE AFRAID. Now suddenly Margarito is ducking Williams?????????????????????
