I really doubt he will make more fighting Cotto, he already got $1.5 million for Cotto the first time, think it will be something like 3 or even 2.5 in the rematch. Boosting to anything above $4million after only one big win isn't likely.

Yeah he definitely has some good names but Mosley is the more experienced and overrall way better than others he fought in my opinion.

Williams resume is VERY thin compared to Margarito. You are right, Margarito did come up the hard way. While I like Williams, his wanting any big name from 147 to 168 looks a little odd. It's as if he doesn't want any top contedners, only the champs.

Maybe he makes more money, maybe he doesn't. I think it would be close though. Cotto is still a bigger name than Williams as well as an easier matchup. In the end, you can't put too much blame on Margo anyway. He's put his career in the hands of Arum. He'll fight who Arum tells him to fight. The last time he deviated from the plan he took an "L". Margo will stick to the plan from now on.

people who don't know the background story should'nt talk, PW was calling Margarito out publicly for months and months saying he was gonna knock him out etc, ever since the spar match PW knew he had Margs number and has been wanting to fight him and when he did get to fight him he won, If he fights him again he will win Margo knew exactly how tough PW was going into the fight because he sparred him already and he lost fair and square, no bull**** "he started late", "he didnt know what he was getting himself into", "he didnt prepare properly", most of you who know me from this site know that I am not biased but I can clearly see that PW can and has beaten Margarito before and Margarito clearly doesn't want to fight PW ever again

I'm sorry, but I have to disagreee with you here. There is no real evidence that Team Williams wanted nothing to do with Margo. Remember, Mrgo was more than willing to drop his title and fight Cotto in 2007. It was Goosen that goaded Margo into fighting Margo instead of vacating. I know you try to present yourself as objective, but I don't believe your being objective on this one.

Since evidence is what you need, what evidence is there to suggest Arum and Margarito DID NOT try to get a rematch? Goosen's word? :huh

If they wanted a rematch how come they have his next two fights mapped out and they don't include a fight with Williams? Furthermore, when did I say they never went after a rematch? From what I understand there was an attempt from Team Margo for an immediate rematch. However, there is no interest on there end for a rematch at this time.

I wasn't talking about now, meant AFTER their fight last summer. But the portion I highlighted makes my point moot.

From a business standpoint its a smart move. Clottey is a top fighter and you can't exactly criticise Margo for rematching a guy who is genuinely at the top of the division. It would be a bit of an anticlimax if he rematched Williams straight away cause the best welterweight would be well and truly settled, this way it is going to build up until next year some time in which case the fight will have a lot more appeal, especially if Williams can manage to get another decent win or two and stick his name out there.
