Instead of pushing for a rematch against Williams, Margarito should push for a rematch against Daniel Santos. I think this helps his legacy much more, and I'm not sure it doesn't make financial sense as well: 1) While Williams is a little better known than Santos, his recent negotiations with Pavlik make it obvious that he thinks he's a much bigger draw than he actually is. Although a Williams fight would make more money total, Margo would end up with a much smaller share of it. 2) Santos is a 3-time champion. Williams is only nominally a 2-time champ, and has a far inferior resume. 3) The first fight had some level of controversy as to the time of the stoppage. There's unfinished business here. 4) A win over Santos makes Margo a two-division titlist, and exponentially increases his legacy. I honestly think this is more impressive than unifying when the quality of the fighters are equal. 5) Williams is a young guy, while Santos is getting long in the tooth. There may not be a better opportunity to avenge that loss. 6) If Margarito wins the belt at 154 as well, then he can rematch Williams at 154. We all know Williams is looking to move up anyway, and this gives him the perfect segue to move up. 7) This quiets the talks that Margo is a one-trick pony. Santos is naturally the same size as Margo. 8) Santos is another Puerto Rican. Margo can develop a reputation as the PR killer.
Bullcrap! What does beating Santos do to the guy's present status? An immediate rematch/unification fight with Williams will cement his place on top of the welter division. Always seek . . . the right fight. :deal
both are good fights but a win over Williams is better than a win over Santos. Santos' victory over Margarito was controversial and inconclusive. Also Williams' win was more recent and they are in the same division
Marg vs PW II in november? Marg' boxrec has him squeduled for nov 15......what will arum make happen?
santos win = controversial williams win = legitimate i think its clear he should fight williams more than santos:deal
