Read the first part again. Diaz clearly says that after Johnson when they were planning the next fight for Margo, Williams was top choice, and as other considerations that brought up Judah, Cintron, and Cotto. But after he lost to Quintana, Margarito went through with the Cintron fight which guaranteed Cotto if he won. They say that nobody in PW camp wanted a rematch after he lost to Quintana, and it makes sense, because he wants to avenge his loss. But the point is PW brought it on himself by not being able to take care of business, and not making the IMMEDIATE rematch like Top Rank and Margarito wanted to begin with.

Actually Margarito had to goto court against Bob Arum in order to make a fight with Paul Williams-(this was well publicized and delayed the fight three months). Arum ordered Tony to give up the belt and not fight Williams, but Tony wanted the fight and went to court to make it happen. If you haven't seen the fight, it was close and could've went either way, niether dominated the other. Margarito tried to get an immediate rematch, but Williams thought he could get a piece of a bigger pie with either Mayweather, Cotto, or Mosely. He was quoted saying that he already beat Margarito, what would he have to gain by beating him again. Evidently he didn't see the fight as a close one. But those other guys wanted nothing to do with Williams, and no one other than Tony still does. Go watch the fight, Margarito started slow and was shocked by Paul's speed and activity, by mid rounds he acclimated and started winning the majority of the rounds after that.

What's the problem? The Williams offer isn't til 2009, Tony wants a fight this year, either Clottey or a big publicity fight with DelaHoya that only makes a Williams rematch even bigger. Usually if you sign to fight someone, there's a clause that prevents you from fighting anyone else in the meantime-(say if he loses to Clottey, Williams won't still pay him $4mill will they!).

I already acknowledged your point in my larger post, about Willimas not wanting the rematch only between the time of losing to Quintana and defeating him in the rematch...but before that and since he's down...listen to Boxing Confidential Radio from about a week ago. Williams tells it, and you can hear him say that he offered the immediate rematch.

I like Margorito but nobody else in the division matcches up with him the way Paul Willimas does, and it's pretty obvious he can't use the advantages he has over everybody else on Williams.

Paul Willimas the black man, has shown he is a true Mexican by avenging his loss immediately...Margo is not going to get the DLH fight, Oscar lied when he said he would fight winner. Being able to grasp this fact is the difference between sensible Margo fans like me, and the rabid Margo Marks.

If he signed for Clottey great, but Margo should fight Willimas next, or I'll have a problem continuing to support him. He's already had his fun getting his name mentioned with DLH in the headlines, but now he needs to let it go because it will NEVER happen, and Tony has work to do.

I don't know why but that made me laugh pretty ****ing hard.

The point is that even if he fights Williams it will be in 09. Margo should try DLH before the year is out, because DLH owes him the fight. I don't think he'll get it either. But seeing as how they've had a relationship spanning over 10 years it adds a different dimension then just being another boxer trying to milk him.

The DelaHoya fight isn't completely off the table yet. Pacquiao may hold to his word and fight Soto instead and Mora could lose to Forrest, leaving the Golden Boy with no better December option than Margarito. There's alot at stake for Margarito to try and make this fight, he'd be an fool not to try his most to get this fight.

In the meantime Arum has plan B laid out for November against Clottey at Dodger Stadium, then Williams next year-(like in the current offer). Why the hell would Tony duck Williams? Who else would there be for him to fight after he beats Clottey and DelaHoya and Mosely retire?

    Man enough of this already.

If Margarito wants a big money fight just go ahead and fight P-Will right now. I'm sure everybody would rather see that fight over the Oscar fight anyway.

Besides its no given that Margarito will beat Oscar anyway. He might be the slight favorite but thats it.

I'm not taking any sides it's just that it seems like Margarito is acting out of spite for around the 1st time he fought Williams. Get over it and take the 4 million and fight.

Had Williams winning the first and think he wins again. Williams took care of business so they should fight next year. DLH won't happen because Margarito shouldn't be fighting DLH. It goes both ways.

Honestly, I don't believe you owe somebody a fight for saying that you'd fight them in the gym after a sparring session.

Honestly, at that point its like, "Yeah, I just kicked your ass as is my job. If you ever get a title, anonymous punching bag in headgear, Ill fight you!"

**** changes. Do you know what was on DLH's agenda in 2002? Bigger stuff than Margarito has ever been. You should be thankful that the only chance of a Margarito fight is now, when Oscar is decayed. In 2002 DLH stops him in 5 rounds and this whole lovely Margarito journey thats been going on the past year never happens.

I want to see Margarito fight Clottey, or Paul Williams. Stop bitching about a fight you arent going to get, stop asking help from a public that doesnt care about boxing. He's appealing to the very people who buy PPV's JUST to see Oscar. Buckle down, be hardnosed, and work at becoming the welterweight champ. He's making excellent progress, beating Cotto and Cintron. Keep going. That's what I respect. I have no respect for fighters who chase after DLH for an easy payday, and that is just what Tony and Pacquiao were doing.

If thats the case just go ahead with the Clottey fight. He already mentioned his name with Oscar. Just let it go now. If Clottey can't fight he still can fight the winner of Mosely/Mayorga.

I don't blame Tony for calling out Oscar but after a while it gets old. I don't want him to go the Winky route and bring it up every interview for the rest of his career.

Who is word? Just words or rumors started by someone... I'm not sure how that that holds any water when it comes down to fight night. And how is it possible that he used to rough him up in sparring when he couldn't even rough him up when they fought? PW was the one who was roughed up that night.

Some guys really just hate Margarito.

If what Antonio Margarito says is true, then Del La Hoya should really be making this fight happen. By the same token, I think it would be disrespecful to treat Hoya to harshly if he decides to retire or fight someone that poses less of a risk. After all, Del La Hoya has fought the best of his era already; Mosley, Quartey, Whitaker, Mayweather, and Hopkins.

Margaritio isn't left without options. A rematch with Williams is what the majority of Boxing fans want to see, but also rematches against Santos at 154 or Joshua Clottey would all be legacy fights. Personally, I would like to see Maragrito avenge his loss at 147 against Williams, unify the division against Clottey, and then become a 2 weight world champion at 154. Antonio Margarito would have a hell of a legacy.
