When I was training, I would use kitchen spunges for a pad on my Knuckles I put sports tape over them, over time those would get wet from the sweat and dry making them firm or stiff. Hard as a rock would be as it sounds, like a rock big difference, becuase with the pads I was using even though they were firm after about three or four rounds of working out they would get soft again until I took them off and they dried out.
Firm and hard is consistent with the feel of gauze that is rolled tight and compressed......certainly thats a long way off from a foreign hard substance.
Good that you bring that up about the sponge.....there are certain sponge material that are soft and cushiony while wet, and get stiff when they dry...... .....I'm starting to wonder if thats the type of sponge that margartio wrapped over his knuckles......and if so, it would have gotten soft in the course of the fight through the sweat.
Thats what I am starting to think it was fighters like to have those pre made pads ready to go, and if Margarito was using an older one that explains why the pad was stiff, then you have to factor the tape that is placed on it and then having the tape removed could leave adheisive as well.
If You're talking about when the topic was Margie vs Gayweather...of course I feel Margie would have at the time handed Gayweather a new one... I believe most of the legitimate welterweights in the top 5 will and can beat Gayweather. Thats why he avoided them.
Mosley said in an interview on Friday Night Fights that the pad was soft. I am beginning to wonder what the difference is between "hard" and "soft." :huh
It says in the LA times it wont be known what the substance is until "MID MARCH"!WTF? Why not? it's not of extraterrestrial origin or anything. Why the delay?:huh
Glad to see that Che Guevara is still going strong. I thought the CIA bumped him off in some Bolivian jungle. Someone should get on the phone to Fidel.
