Do we have any takers? I just read that Margarito is open for a rematch and i'm sure that for both guys this would be big paydays ... maybe a bit more than what they made a couple of days ago. Arum said that he wants Margarito to fight the guy thats going to make him the most money. I would love to see the rematch in PR ... What do you guys think?
Zero chance for this year and it wouldn't be good for Cotto either. He was broken physically and mentally, he should have a long break, fight a tune up then see whats what.
In the post fight press conference ... he said Oscar gave a bull**** excuse talking about he doesn't want to fight another Mexican. But before, I remember him saying that his wife didn't want him to fight any Puerto Ricans. I do get Oscar ... I think both guys stand to make good money with each other and before years end can be enough time. I smell a trilogy ... a great welterweight trilogy ...
For selfish reasons I want this fight before years end and I want to see a rubber match if Cotto can make the proper adjustments.
So Cotto's corner throwing in the towel is worse than Jermain Taylor getting knocked out by Kelly Pavlik? ... Taylor lost alot more ... he was physically knocked out and wanted to exercise the rematch immediately.
no, I don't think that's a good idea. Take a rest so your wounds would heal and regain the pride by fighting others.
you didn't mention when the rematch should take place. they may have a rematch but probably not this year. margo needs to avenge his defeat against PW first to prove that he is already the man in welterweight division.
why would you do that? this man took something away from you and you need to get it back. Cotto not taking the rematch seems as if he scared of Margarito. he loses more not rematching him than the actual defeat.
Here's my opinion. Let Paul Williams/Margarito git'er done. THEN whoever wins = surpreme welterweight bar NONE. Let Cotto go against the loser. Winner is Cotto, he fights winner. If Cotto does not win then either two things happen. Paul Williams is undeniabley the best welterweight by decisioning Antonio Margarito twice previously, who then beats Miguel Cotto for a second time. Margarito wins against Paul Williams forcing a fight between him and Cotto. Winner earns either the rematch or rubber match with Antonio Margarito showing that neither losing was due to being overrated. This takes care of the credibility of both rubber match with PW and Margarito and the possible rematch of Margarito vs Cotto.
