Even without the plaster (and although we all suspect it, we'll really never know if Margo had "Manos De Piedra" in that fight or not) It's hard to imagine it going any other way than how it went in the first fight.

Cotto hurt Margo plenty. Cotto could not knock him out but Margo looked like a racoon after the fight. I remember a month after, Margo was still weraring glasses. This is a tough fight to call, due to the fact both fighters have taken some considerable damage. Stylewise, Margo is a nightmare for Cotto.

 

Margo would give him another beat down.

 

Cotto by KO. I was yelling at Cotto to go to the body, and he never did in that first fight. If he has a decent to good trainer, and reports are that Steward will be his trainer, then he would KO Margarito. Not to mention, Margarito's chin got cracked in the first fight, and Mosley cracked it even more. Cotto by KO.

 

If Cotto uses clinching effectively, he might be able to steal a decision. If not, he loses again.

 

I agree with the poster who said Cotto needs to learn how to clinch effectively. He's obviously very skilled, but he shoots himself in his own foot when his A) defense is already leaky and B) he's a proven late fader and C) if this rematch happened he'd still be in with a guy who brings nightmare pressure....clinch the damn opponent!

 

To add on why it's important for him to clinch....his power hasn't followed him up to 147 the way he ran through people at 140. Even if Margarito is shot I don't think Cotto can KO him it'd be a fight certain to go late.

There's no evidence at all to suggest that Margarito cheated in that fight. His wraps were approved by Cotto's trainer and the NSAC.

He simply has Cotto's number.

IMO Cotto has got to be shell-shocked by the 2 beatings he got(Margo and Pac). If he ever gets in the ring against a good banger he'll start having flashbacks and might start thinking about packing it in early!
