Thanks...seriously...to everyone. You guys keep me inspired. It must have been 1am last night when I finished it & couldn't wait to throw it up here. And the response has been well. This one has impressed. Even though I did it for my wife, she says sell it! I don't know what to do now.:think But I can't wait to get going on the Pacman Diaz painting for Sandman1337. I have a small commission to get done 1st, though.
you shouldnt need our inspiration if the people around you know the fighters you are painting. you knew you were talented long before you posted to us, right? really nice work.
For an artist, WE are the final objective. Our feed back lets him know that his vision was realized. Like the guy that wants to use it as wallpaper. That kind of thing is more of a compliment than most of the posts on here so far. It is an honest request that says I want to look at this over and over and over......:thumbsup
Another great idea from Hermit! Let me try to build a portfolio of close to 8 to 10 good paintings & maybe we'll have to give the Butler a shout! Isn't that where Ray Simons artwork is of KP? I'd definitely have to do maybe a couple of paintings of Kelly. Well see what happens. I gotta find a job, & when I do that burns me out & its hard to paint a few hours in the evening. Sucks that I just can't sit home & paint. If my works had notareity & sold for $1000s I could. But thats a hard point to reach in the artworld without connections or a great agent working for you. Whatever. I'm happy showing them to real fans here at ESB.
I guess your right. I feel honoured. This painting made me very happy to do. It was intended to be for my wife. A big Margo fan. That made it special. The composition was awsome. The night was a special one when we went to a friends to watch it in this huge HDTV. It was a big upset, making the night even more memorable. I don't think I can part with this painting. But I can paint another one!:!: Maybe even for a bit better price. Now that I have this one figured out, the next one should go a little faster.
i think you have a lot more self belief than when i started fighting. and lets be honest - ego really helps a lot when you're tryng to find yourself. use that and be passionate about what you do. if that really is your painting then you have no excuse not to.
Then I'd realy have to change things from the photo I work from (by at least 30%) so as to not violate any copyright laws. Getty Images & Top Rank own the rights to that image & if I put that on a website or ebay for sale, I'm asking for a lawsuit. I tried to get permission for this image. This painting I did is really only a study, not a full blown painting that would take more time to complete. Anyway, Getty wanted $370 to issue me a licsense to legally use their image AND told me I needed BOTH fighters OK on this. Since both guys are with Top Rank, easy, one email to them & saee what they say...They never got back to me. So I paint 'em, you see 'em. You want one, you tell me. But your right. I need a website & start getting some galleries or that Butler Art School to recogize some new talent.
Hey Jet I need one of Diaconu crushing Dawson with his signature left hook. Just name your price.....may as well have a painting as this fight will never happen
I'm not trying to fool anybody. Ask PolishPummler...he owns an Adamek/Ulrich beauty I did for him. Shipped it from NJ to California. But thanks for the advise about being passionate. If I didn't have to work & could just paint, there would be no problem there. When I'm painting, the feeling of accomplishment after a good session tells me this is what I was born to do.
