For those who have seen the fight, how did Tony look to you? Granted the man was coming off a big beating and a year lay off. Did he look shot or just rusty? I just heard a Dan Rafeal interview where he said "Margarito looked very bad". Now granted it is Rafeal who said this, and we all know he is a heel but I want to know peoples thoughts.

In the end does Tony have a chance against Manny?

I was not impressed by Margaritos performance but to his credit he followed the instructions of his trainer Roberto Garcia who insisted Margarito Box, which is not Tonys style so of course he will look like ****...

Considering the pretty awful year before the fight, he did pretty well vs. a tough as nails opponent, but it's hard to predict from that single fight. Now does he stand a chance against Manny? Absolutely! Anything above 140 is a big physical challenge for Pac and Margarito is a relentless, all-aggression, hard-hitting punching machine who can take dozens of good punches to deliver his own, even if it takes 9 rounds to find success, that's pretty much the worst style to fight against if you're fighting bigger guys. Cotto tried but failed and Hatton and Clottey never found a way to apply physical pressure on Pac, but sooner or later someone will, and Margarito might be the guy. Now what happens if Pac can't stop a 162lbs punching machine moving in with a zillion punches? If Margarito has one last big performance in him, he stands a very good chance.

Good post! Most dont give any chance to Margo, but the guy is relentless in his attack, and can take some shots. Plus he is probably the tallest fighter Pac has ever faced. I give Margo a real chance in this fight.

I'm confused. His last opponent and current trainer are both named Roberto Garcia?

He looked like the GOAT. I thought I was watching a prime Sugar Ray Robinson for a minute.

His trainer is doing a good job. We know he can come forward and unleash furry. Garcia is trying different things with Margo and I think its a great idea.

    He looked like ****

But im not reading much into that with reference to his fight with Pacquiao , Margarito showed no respect for Garcia , he did drop him too , however i remember watching the fight thinking **** Margarito is finished .

But this is a fresh fight , which brings completley different angles and out comes , you dont become a bad fighter over night and i wont be expecting a Garcia like performance against Pacquiao .

One thing was clear , Margarito was clearly looking to get the rounds in against Garcia and was actually allowing him to come forward , he looked content to pick off Garcia coming in , in the end which as we all know isnt Margarito , it was clearly a stay busy lose the ring rust type of fight but Margarito didnt look great TBH ....................

The Mosley beating is the type that cracks a chin. I think Pac might actually stop him. Just like i think PWs chin is also cracked from Martinez.

Margarito will make it competitive but Pacs much too fast and Margarito will walk into a huge counter shot.

Honestly margo was told to box & he did. He looked terrible in doing it, but that should be expected. If he's going to use this style, he won't be as effective. They probably planned to use that style because of his lay off. Being out that long can't help when your throwing 100 punches per round.

Either way, he gets sparked by pac. Too much speed, angles, & power.

I watched the fight yesterday and he didn't look nearly as bad as some people might have you believe. He looked like he was trying different things though, and toying around a bit since it was just a tune up fight.

He dominated the fight and dropped a guy with a good chin. You also have to realize that Manny is 5'6'' 1/2 and Garcia was 5'10''. Based on that alone Margarito has a chance to do better against Manny.

I think he should abandon his "boxing" approach at some point in the fight if it's not working out and just go balls out and get a bit more reckless. He doesn't really have anything to lose... he's going to be a big underdog anyway. The last thing he should do is pull a Clottey. He should at least go hard at Manny and try to make it a war. Even if he gets knocked out at least he'll give Manny his toughest fight since Marquez and earn back some of the respect he lost with the hand wraps fiasco.

Wasn't too bad of an offensive performance imo, he landed decent shots all night and has been mentioned did well to put garcia down. However, again he was easy to hit himself and to be honest Pacquiao could stop him as he will be landing at will with them stinging punches from any angle

You think that's weird, there was a fight a while ago between two Eduardo Garcia's.
