I always thought that if I love boxing, believing in fixed fights diminishes the sport obviously. I do not think Arum would condone a fix. I think most people know how fast Manny is and that his speed will probably beat Margarito. Margarito is not a caliber of greats like Hearns or Duran or Leonard or Benitez. He is a guy who lost to Mosley and Williams. He is beatable.

I agree......but we got some really "special" folks roaming ESB. Their thought process is really out there to say the least. So while I'm surprised.......I'm not THAT surprised we got a very select few talking this garbage.

:-( You are really looking at this from a simple perspective.

Arum does not care about BOXING.... he cares about what makes him the most money and how he can milk that for all he can.

If Pac wins, Pac will go on to fight someone like Mosley or Bradley, in a fight that would do about the same numbers as Pac vs Margarito, if not less, in a fight that Arum would have to split promotion.

If Marg wins, not only is that a huge boost for his mexican fighters following, it allows him to set up a HUGE rematch, that would be bigger then the first fight, which if Pac wins, would set up a very bankable trilogy...... and most of all, this would all be in house for arum.

With Pac getting out soon, and a Mayweather fight looking dim (thats even if arum even wants a mayweather fight for pac) and arum looking to line his pockets before he gets any older, a

    Pac vs Marg
    Marg vs Pac 2
    Pac vs Marg 3

scenario pockets him more money then does

    Pac vs Mosley
    Pac vs Bradley
    and then whoever is next.

Pac wont be fighting that much longer.... and even in the event that pac loses, pac has never been popular because he is unbeatable, hes popular because hes elite and more importantly, exciting, and his star appeal wont take that big a hit losing against fighters so big he shouldnt be in the ring with them in the first place, and Arum knows this.

Does Arum want Pac to win? Ya... probably. Enough to call for such a ******ed thread and so many people thinking this is going to be a fixed fight? Doubtful at best.

How crazy is it that Pac is so good, that before he fights guys twice his size there are already calls of fixed fight being thrown around lol... before they even fight

It's pretty damn sad Krik. It's at a point now where instead of making excuses for why someone "LOSES"......with PAC they are making excuses for why he "WINS". PAC is a special fighter and he's been a great embassador of the sport. When you get to this level in any realm you know there are gonna be haters praying fro your downfall.

Actually Kirk, and not that I'm suspicious of a fix......but the reason to suspect it is that Pac is being matched with fighters from Arum's own promotional Co......
    Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, etc.....

I just think its too difficult to pull off an event where the fighters themselves were in on the fix. It would just show in the performance, as Seldon taking a dive vs Tyson without even getting hit.

A fix is already in, you can assure yourself of that, but its in only if the fight goes to the cards, as we all know that short of a round by round uncompetitve beatdown, there is'nt a chance in hell Margarito gets a decision no matter what he does in the ring.

Its a fix in that sense, but not that the fighters themselves have been paid off.
