PRime for PRime, I would pick Mosley. But today? Margarito by UD. Shane's one of my fabes of all time,m but I think this version would be too much troubled by Margarito's aggression and non-stop output. Not to mentiopn Margarito's defense is NOT as bad as some would want you to believe.

What do you mean "Paul Williams anybody?" :huh

It wasn't Williams' speed that got the best of Margarito, nor does Shane fight ANYTHING like Williams.

Again...what do you mean? And HOW sould Shane do a Paul Williams? Shane's about 5 inches shorter then Williams, and does NOT throw as much as WIlliams. NOt even close actually. It was that activity that kept Margarito from getting his groove on early.

Handspeed was NOT the deciding factor for Williams. Anyway, if it was, so? You think all one needs is handspeed? Different fighters employ different strategies, and different styles.

    That's another blanket statement. :nono

One could easily say "Shane has trouble with taller, stronger fighters" as he has, therefore Margarito wins. But that is equally incorrect as your statements.

margo does fight like the stereotypical mexican boxer; take 2 to land one. he eats shots all day, wears down his opponent with relentless agression.

shane mosley used the wrong tatics against cotto. he didn't box, he stood in his face and tried to knock him out. it was a very close fight, and is a testament to just how good mosley is. shane SHOULD box margo's ears off. he shouldn't stand in the pocket and trade with him. not that he would loose, it would make it a tougher fight

It seems all you can do it go by what some others have said. You need to LOOK at the fighters themselves to make a pick, not go by others who aren't even making picks with their statements.

Zab had speed in SPADES over Baldomir. Shane had it over Forrest and WInky. DLH over Hopkins. Too many countless examples of guys with faster hands gettng beat.

Don't take someone's blanket statement and use it for all matchups.

Give YOUR reason why you think Shane wins. :thumbsup

You might be right, you might be wrong. I certainly wouldn't count Shane out.

    That's how Mosley fights.

Just because Shane is fast, it doesn't mean he's a "pure boxer".

Shane has always at his best when he stood at range and traded. His "power-boxing" is very aggressive, as Mosley is a speedy slugger. He's never been a guy like Mayweather or De La Hoya who are just as good or better at boxing on the backfoot or with lateral movement, then they are at trading at close or mid quarters.

Cotto doesn't have the physical gifts of blazing speed of hand and quicker feet, but he throughout his career (NOT just recently as the newbies like to claim), he's been a guy who could box on the backfoot or attack with pressure.

Williams beat Margarito partially because of his speed, but more because he has a ridiculous workrate.

Mosley doesn't have that. He didn't have that sort of amazing workrate in his prime and surely doesn't now in his late 30s when he needs to clinch more and conserve his energy and fight at a slower pace.
