:deal I don't think Margo would be very hard for Cotto to handle, but I wouldn't mind seeing this fight
Cotto is definately the better boxer and might leg it a bit to survive early rounds if Margarito starts out strong. Margo definately listened to advice here and in other spots about his slow start against Williams. He should have never lost to Williams and had he started earlier he would have had Williams drained and knocked out late. I have no doubt about it. Cotto impressed me tonight which he usually does anyways. He didn't take Gomez lightly and beat him all the way around. He has good handspeed and good power because Cotto very rarely hits hard places. His bulk work happens in the soft, sensitive spots that make you think twice about being a prize fighter. But that said, he won't stop Margarito. Margo is one of the only guys I've seen get up and win a fight after getting hit on the liver solid. And these days Margo is very good about protecting his body. Cotto will likely tag him clean upstairs but those body shots are not going to be offered without a stiff price. And Margo's uppercut is as stiff as they come in the division. Cotto is going to have his work cut out for him. Of course the trick here is for him to use footwork. He cannot muscle Margarito or he gets stopped. You can bet on that. I can see a fast start by Margo heavy uppercut strategy really ****ing Cotto up. And with that a late stoppage. I'm still very convinced that Cotto won't find Margo's body easily. Not with those uppercuts coming back.
I read some body naming Cotto a cute fighter nobody punch with more authority than Cotto every punch hurts this guy has become a real destroyer on top he got the best jab and body snatching attack in the division.
Margarito WILL be a tough fight for Cotto... anyone who thinks cotto is going to have a decent time with margarito is a fool when it comes to boxing. Margarito is not just bigger, he is very strong, throws all night long and never stops coming.... Cotto likes to fight at HIS pace, Margarito wont let him do that, and will be able to win some rounds on aggression alone. But in the END, i have to believe cotto is just TOO GOOD to lose to margarito, who can only beat him one way. I think its a good fight, and a close one, but one that is clearly won by cotto. Cotto will shoot pinpoint punches into margarito and then circle, back up, ect, margarito will be coming non stop with his heavy hands and relentless pressure... they will hurt eachother but i think cotto will fight the fight of his life and win... but i wouldnt be SUPRISED if margarito won due to his non stop attack, fustrating cotto (cotto gets fustrated when the other fighter isnt getting hurt, is pushing the fight on him non stop, and not letting him fight his fight - ndou, urkal) i pray to god cotto wins though
No. Margarito had a guy in front of him who he knew he could destroy because he did it before. That's why he started fast.
wtf!:huh its not even a close match up looking at every department: hand speed, footwork, power, ability to hit from the outside, infighting techniques. cotto would have a hell of a good night target shooting from the outside and roughing up margo in the inside with his short and poowerful uppers and hooks.
He'll KO him because he was able to beat Cintron? Damn some of you people flip flop on fighters way too much.
Dude did you not listen to the interview afterwards? They knew they started too slow in the Williams fight and it cost them. Look at the two fights since then. Margo has come out guns blazing. They took the criticism well and made something of it. Had he started slow tonight or even against Johnson he may have been worked to a losing UD. That Williams fight was just bad strategy all around. Margo should have never lost to Williams.
Remember how bad he looked against a slick boxer like Clottey, most of the shots Clottey landed stopped Margo from coming in time and time again. Plus all the shots Margo landed in the last half of the fight did nothing to him.
