Margo fought a great fight and is no doubt a deserving champion but lets stop pretending for a moment shall we? Cotto was pummeling Margo for a better portion of the fight. I've watched the fight about 5 times and can tell you in all honesty that that is the case...Margos body punches started to become a serious factor in round 7 or 8, from there Cotto was scrambling for answers as his combos on the inside were not effecting Margo as they should have. Ultimately poor strategy by Cotto...when you run all nite, using your legs much more than your fists, your legs will give way soon enough, this is a historical universal that has been well documented...... Anyhow great fight by Margo he worked his gameplan to perfection All in all I would love to see Cotto-Margarito 2, its a fight they both need and a fight we need as fans.....Hope this was helpful:good
Actually yours is short, sweet, and to the point whereas mine is kinda filled with mumbo jumbo, but it's all good. We aim to please all styles here on ESB. :yep
While I`m not a expert like some of these Turd-Burglars, I still have 2 eyes and a brain that fires on 3 of 8 cylinders. Tact was never my strong point. Honesty, sometimes the brutal kind unfortunately is needed to penetrate the molasses thick craniums of the Nut This content is protected huggers
No this wasn't helpful, and I think it is you and Cotto's fans who need to stop pretending. Cotto was beating Margarito a better portion of the fight? Pummeling Margarito? Pummeling to me is when a fighter is backing up another fighter and is punching the daylights out of him. The only thing Cotto was doing right was taking advantage of Margarito's come forward style, and was punching off the backfoot. To me that meant everything. Cotto did not gain Margarito's respect with his punches in one second of that fight. I forgot what round it was in, but I believe it was in the 3rd round that Cotto caught Margarito with a combo and Margarito gave him smile as to say, "Is that all you got? Boy, are you in trouble tonight." Margarito also invested in the body from the beginning. Did you not see the body shot that Margarito hit Cotto with in the first round? It nearly doubled Cotto over. Margarito did a number on Cotto's body, and Cotto paid for it dearly. I hope you are not insinuating that Cotto shouldn't run more if they fight again. If he stands and trades with Margarito, he will get knocked out faster and more brutal. The only thing that saved Cotto from a brutal KO was the fact that he was moving a lot, and the fact that he quit when he saw it coming. Spare us Margarito fans the bull**** excuses and just give Margarito his due. No excuses whatsoever. No fatigue, no wanting to spare his family, no overtraining BS, or whatever else you guys are spewing. Margarito won. Lets move on, shall we?
ummm wow either you are really drunk or just a plain dumbass:yep I give Margo all the credit in the world and have moved on, he's a great champion, I just don't feel the need to seek him out and suck his **** like you. So can we move on? You dismiss the obvious that I've stated and instead started some childish vendetta.....Is it possible for you to stick to the thread topic???? In case you can't read its "Margarito will never give Cotto a rematch" In my opinion he will as I've said before Margo is a dangerous fighter and people arent exactly lining up to fight him..... Aside from all this if Margo is a true champion he'll make a rematch with Williams, the man that has beaten him LATELY.....If we want to dig up old dirt he'll also lobby for a fight with Santos. Now son try to debate what I've said with some semblance of maturity or knowledge
Good post. I thought Cotto was going to win. However, he got beat up. He was running the whole fight and still got busted up. I don't see what he can do differently if they fight again.
No, I've seen the fight plenty of times. Cotto was beat up. I gave him rounds 1,3,4 and 5. He took a good amount of punishment in rounds 3,4 and 5 despite the fact that he won those rounds. He was never able to discourage Margo, Margo left him no openings to the body. Cotto was contantly on the move, and constantly got trapped on the ropes and pummeled. I don't see what he could do differently. His chin and defense isn't good enough for him to stand his ground more. His stamina, and movement isn't good enough for him to run again like he did. Margo protects well to the body, so I don't see him being all that succesful there.
What a hypocritical imbecile you are. Stick to collecting used condoms, which is the only thing you have experience in. And no, you don't know jack **** about boxing. :hi:
WHat he needs to do different.....well its a matter of opinion really....I think he can beat Margo given the proper gameplan...which in my opinion would be to stay in the pocket, use angles, stay close enough to nullify Margos power(much in the same way Diaz fought Katsidis) When Cotto ran and backed up after throwing a combo it only allowed Margo to work his gameplan, stalking and getting off first and pinning Cotto on the ropes....If Cotto had done as I've stated above this wouldnt have been possible for Margo. Face the facts....Cotto played right into Margos gameplan, if he had executed one similar to what I've stated or maybe watched the Williams-Margarito fight he might've been ok......Margo needs abit of distance to be effective and if Cotto moved in tight circles using angles instead of backing to the ropes the fight wouldve gone in a much different light
This results in Cotto getting knocked out. Cotto is wide open down the middle. Margo would bust him up with uppercuts if Cotto tried to stay on the inside. Cotto cuts and bleeds pretty easily. As already stated, your gameplan gets Cotto flattened. Cotto is not Williams. He doesn't have the size, length, stamina, or chin that Williams posseses. Margo really doesn't need space to be effective, he's a pretty good in fighter. He has a good uppercut, and actually does a good job of using angles hiimself on the inside. Staying in the center of the ring instead laying on the ropes would help. However, I doubt Cotto has the ability to execute this strategy against Margo. This is exactly what his corner asked him to do. However, he just couldn't do it. Cotto is not Floyd Mayweather. He did a good job of fighting off the back foot against Mosley. However, Mosley is older, has lost some pop and has grown increasingly slopier as a fighter. Cotto is at his best when he's coming fowards and being the aggresor. He's not able to do that against Margo. Margo's length, stamina, power, and chin make it almost impossible for Cotto to effectively implore an alternate gameplan. Unless Cotto gets a stronger beard and develops a defense for the uppercut, he'll be hard pressed to beat Margo.
