First off . . . I'm one of those rooting for Margarito . . . it was a close fight and Williams earned his victory. If only Margarito found his range early it could have been different. :yep
I had it 115-113, which is only a round different than what most people are calling. On my card, if Williams hadn't have come on strong in the 12th, it would have been a draw. I think Margo genuinely though he had him out in the 11th. Williams outperformed what I thought he would be able to do by quite a bit.
i think the right decision was made. which is good for boxing i mean if this fight was scored a draw or was given to Margarito it would have been another bad thing for boxing. so at the end of the day the right decision was made. Williams won the fight.
Could have gone either way. Williams threw a lot more punches, but Margarito did all the damage. Scoring round by round, I gave it to Williams, but only an idiot would say that Williams dominated.
The last round is what Tony needed for a draw, he didnt pull that round out, so Paul won the fight, but he barley won it having every single advantage Paul barley got the win. its okay though I am sure Margarito Cotto will still go on much the way Judah Mayweather did after Zab lost, much the way Morales Pacquiao did after Morales lost, no different here, and the WBA title means more, I still think Tony is a top level fighter, and soon enough Mosley will be out of the mix, the top five look promising, though I dont think Williams will be around much longer he is just too damn big.
I watched the fight with a buddy of mine who isn't the biggest fight fan in the world, but enjoys a good fight when he is over my house. I had it 8-4, he had it 7-5, both for Paul Williams. All in all, it was a close fight, but Williams deserved to win the title in my mind. A rematch would be great and we would probably get to see Mosley - Cotto, but if they go ahead with Cotto - Margarito, thats fine.
