Just read the interview with him on the main page and I was surprised and impressed by his attitude. He admitted that after watching the tape of the Williams fight he accepted that he lost. I found that extremely refreshing, as it was a close fight, that he was man enough to say that he lost. After all the 'floyd is ducking me' hype I had written him off as a bit of whiner, but he's got a lot of class.
After the post fight interview in the Williams fight he acted like a ***** when he was clearly beaten. Atleast he admited he lost in this interview.
It's easy to get caught up in that when your promoter and your whole team are telling you that you got robbed. Especially when you've been in a close fight.
He's always been quite straight up....Its hard to blame a fighter for thinking he was robbed when its a nail biter and you picked up steam towards the championship rounds. Though he seemed to have matured in this interview.
If Margarito had won the 12th he would have kept his belt on a draw IMO. He let Williams bank too many early rounds and it cost him. I was upset with his attitude after the fight but at the same time I understood that it's not particularly easy for a guy like him to get a fight without a title so I didn't really care. Let's see how he does against Cintron.
Margarito is the real deal. I don't know why he takes so much grief on these pages. That said, I still don't think there is any way he ever beats PBF.
He said this around the time he fought he fought Golden Johnson. They discussed it during the fight. But it's funny...after the fight was over, Paul went to shake hands with Margarito, and Tony says to him in English "You lost, man."
I like Margo, guy's got balls and comes to scrap, he's gonna kick Cintrons ass tomorrow night...:smoke
He definitely is realistic and was straight up. I agree with many of the points he made... he knows exactly why he lost to Williams and he accept the loss. Its hard not to root for the guy. Interesting to see his mindset coming into the fight. He seems very very focused, which is a good thing.
Margarito is definitely a classy fighter. I respect him a lot because of his hard work and determination. He has had a frustrating career because he wants to nail that big high profile boxing fight. If he beats Cintron than he will get a shot at Cotto.
**** Margarito. Where was his "class" after he lost to Williams. The guy didn't want shake Williams's hand. He shunned Williams. Margarito is a poor sport and a punk.
