I'm putting £30 down on Margarito. The guy is a ****ing mountain comparatively to Pacquiao, and I don't care how good you are, that will tell.
Thats a really good point. Theirs a chance here with all that he has to prove that he leaves it all in the gym and shows up in remarkable shape but flat.
Non-comparable. Margarito pretty much dwarfs Cotto, and gave him a bad ass licking. Clottey typically doesn't throw many punches. What he did land seemed to get Manny's attention, and Pacquiao was marked up despite rarely getting hit. Oh, Margarito tapped Clottey, too. Yeah, non-comparable. Margarito has Cotto's willingness to trade, but Clottey's ability to absorb punches. He's also bigger than both of them.
I see a tough, long night for Pacquiao. It's against the trend around here, but I think having this much taller, stronger, relentless punching machine coming forward all fight will really test his skills
The weight is no problem for Margarito. People forget, he routinely got down to 147lbs with no problems at all. 150lbs is perfect for him.
No they are not the same, but the other guys were all in shape and all we heard before the fight was how big they were. Margo also doesnt have the speed, accuracy or jab of Cotto or the defense of Clottey. He does seem to have the strategy of the last 4 guys of Im bigger and he wont be able to take my punches though. Its the same story as the last 4 fights the only difference being I am even bigger than them.
I think Marg is going to give Pac a better fight than people think..it seems to be the story of the ant and the grasshopper. where Pac maybe take'n him to lightly.
True but he was also one of the biggest welters in the game and truthfully probably a middle weight fighting there. That can be taxing as the years kick by. However that year off could be a blessing in disguise. I think he may very well shock the world on the 13th but with all that is on the line he could overdue it. According to Garcia he has never seen anyone train like him. His determination to get past the hand wrap thing and restore some kind of honour could be his downfall.
We have reason to believe that Margarito's superior size will be a big factor in this fight, though. Cotto and Clottey were both bigger, but neither as big, and whereas Cotto liked to engage, he was also shown to be fragile when it came to catching. Clottey, in contrast, has always had the capacity to endure hard shots, but lets fights get away from him with his lack of work rate. Clottey was outworked, Cotto couldn't take Manny's firepower. Margarito is clearly a harder match up for number of reasons. Yes, he's he biggest guy Manny would have ever fought, but he brings with that a torrid work rate in addition to freakish punch resistance. If the fight is a war, Pacquiao is going to have to show that he can take Margarito's best, and I think question marks will be lingering over whether or not he's capable of that. Pacquiao, in theory, should be able to box circles around Margarito, who is slow and has no foot work, but Manny typically likes to fight.
