I think a combination of Margarito's own pride and the referee's failure to stop the fight has cost Margarito his career.

I dont think so, I think his pride allowed for him to take more damage but we need to stop always thinking stoppage when a fighter is getting out boxed. it wasnt as if Manny was staggering him on nearly every shot, he was out worked.

I dont think he was taking that brutal of a beating. I never really saw Margarito on the verge of going down. PAc does not have concussive power ala Mosley. That fight i was really worried in. He was taking shots that were scrambling his brains.
Pac has stinking/stunning power but not concussive.

It was more than just being outworked.

His face was mutilated, his eye socket broken, he was bleeding, taking shot after shot without anything really coming back.

I understand that as well but he was out worked, However the eyesocket raised a question or some questions, during the pre fight drama Manny had to re wrap his hands atleast once if not twice.
the first time I saw Manny wrapping his own hands I noticed he put tape down dirrectly on the skin then Gauze, that is not legal from what I remember they call that stacking, its the same style of hand wrapping Kessler was caught doing before the fight with Ward.

Manny did win the fight congrats to him in doing so, But I am not so sure he did it with in the rules.

Margarito was not going to go down, and I believe him when he said during the fight that Pacquiao's punches weren't hurting him (at least originally).

That liver ****, however, really crushed Margarito...I'm surprised he went on!!! And Pac's ability to hit you with 5-6 punches in a row adds up.

You must not have followed Margaritos career before this. Thats the way it is in all of his fights. He takes a beating. The only time though that i have ever seen him take career ending type of damage and show it in the ring was against Mosley. Pac would hit Margo with hard stining punches but Mosley was hitting Margarito with punches that would change his body language.

Did you see the punches he received right at the stoppage. Those are punches that put down Vargas and Mayorga for good. dont let the disfigured face fool you. Im sure if Margarito got asked which punches he felt the most he would say Mosley.

I gave him his due for the win, But I am sure if it was little boy Floyd and the same circumstances you would be suggesting the same... his hands did need to be re wrapped, atleast once if not twice, but in doing so tape was dirrectly on the skin...

Ohh your correct how stupid of me to forget he knocked out Margarito in four rounds out doing Mosleys performance:patsch How could I dare forget.
He was out worked out hustled and out skilled no doubt was the beating brutal sure it was brutal but was it any where near Mosley brutal? No it wasnt...
he took a beating yes, but it was not anything close to what he took with mosley...
