Margarito's title

I'm frankly shocked that ANY boxing fan would defend the ridiculous actions of these corrupt sanctioning bodies. Their silly mandatories prevent unification fights.

 

Margarito could've easily filed for an excepttion with the IBF. Given the stature of Margo and Cotto in the WW division and given that the IBF mando is also a Top Rank fighter, there's a good chance the exemption would have been granted. However, Arum had no intentions of this fight ever being a unification fight. He straight up said before this fight was signed that the winner of Margo/Cintron II would have to vacate the title if they wanted to fight Cotto. You can't blame the IBF in this situation.
