Now that we can get the ¨what has he done¨ and the ¨who has he beaten¨ and the ¨but what does he bring to the table¨ talk out of the way, its time to discuss the meaning of this win on Margo´s resume. With Margo´s resume being bashed so thouroughly over the past months by Floyd and his camp, it only seems fair now to compare their resumes (Floyd in the lead, but lets look closer at it).

First, this win at welter is bigger than any win of Floyd´s at welter, being that Cotto was a p4p ranked fighter at the time, was undefeated, recognized as the best welter in the division, and was a better boxer than the Zab, Hatton, or Baldo that Floyd beat.

Second, this win may be bigger than any one win on Floyd´s resume in the past few years as a whole (although not in the collective sense, bc Floyd still trumps him here).

My question for you is this... is this single win bigger than any single win on Floyds resume? How high were the likes of Corrales, Castillo, and Hatton on the p4p charts at the time of Floyd boxing them? Were any of those fighters performing at a higher level than Cotto?

After last weekend, who is Margarito?

I had Cotto HIGHER on my p4p list than Oscar or Ricky or Castillo was when Mayweather fought them.

So my answer is that Margarito probably has the biggest win - assuming Hatton doesn't put in another few years at the very top of 147 this should now remain the case - on an imagined combined resume.

That makes Margarito´s win an incredible one, no?

The man went from being unworthy of conversation about being in the same ring as Floyd to having a bigger single win on his resume than Floyd... and in one night!

Sweet justice for the defamation of charachter that Floyd and his camp perpetrated for so long. Props to Margo.

Your thread title confused me for a second. I would rate Margo's win over Cotto higher than any of Floyd's.

I think Castillo and Corrales went on to be P4P after the Mayweather fights. I am not sure either of them were P4P during or before.

Cotto being P4P #5 and in his prime game really scores big for Margarito. It may turn out to be his signature win.

Likely the best win between the two of them.

Wait a minute, what about Corrales? Corrales was a top 5 p4p fighter when he fought Floyd(Floyd was 7). He was also much bigger than Floyd and had him by 10 lbs. on fight night. He also went on to beat the likes of Freitas, Castillo, and Casamayor. As of now, that's a better win.

I was thinking about this last night.

I think Margarito beats every opponent Mayweather beat at 147lb.

Do you count Corrales the better boxer of the two?

Corrales was ranked #5 p4p when Mayweather beat him. Castillo was not ranked.

Let's not also forget that Genaro Hernandez was the top man in the division, had only 1 loss(at a higher weight against Hoya), and 3-1 favorite when he took on Floyd. Floyd had all of 17 bouts under his belt at that time.

Time will tell. At the time of both fights, Corrales was the better fighter. Who knows though. We don't know how the rest of Cotto's career wil pan out.
