And that's what PBF was trying to do when that snake Arum wouldn't pay PBF what he was worth.:deal

"Arum agreed that the split with Mayweather was not on bad terms like their brief breakup last year. In fact, Arum said, "We intend to be back together. Everything with this was honorable and good. I had offered him numbers [for a multi-fight contract extension] that were livable. His expectations are in the stratosphere. He was entitled to buy me out, and he did. We decided this was the best way to handle it. He is a free agent. We have agreed to work with each other [in the future]."

""That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road." (Floyd ended up making over $20 million for Oscar, Arum is obviously upset now)

"Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million." (He was willing to fight Marg, but wanted more against Cotto and Hatton, which was justifiable. Especially with Hatton)

There you go dude. You people are idiotic with the ducking crap. Arum should have given Floyd his money and the fights you wanted would have happened.

    Blame Bob Arum.

    :deal :deal

Consider also that Margarito has some losses, and that Mayweather has won belts from 130 to 154.

If you count all the Top10 contenders that Mayweather beat, his list increases to 18 names. Margarito's would be only five names.

Ok answer me this... If Margo beat Hatton, and Floyd beat Cotto, who would hold the bigger win at 147lbs... because you and I both know you would turn your own arguement on its head if this had happened.

You have the tendancy to support Floyd, I have the tendancy to critique him, in a sense we both have agendas. If we can support those agendas with facts than great, it makes for good discussion. All Im saying, is that your arguement is selective in this thread, its requiring you to take a stance I know you dont even believe. Deep down, I think you believe Hatton is garbage and didnt belong in the same ring. And I know you respect Cotto more. Thats if we are calling it as it is.

There isnt a singe person in this thread that would dispute Floyd having the better overall resume, so its curious that it keeps coming up.

I do respect Cotto more because of his style. But you have to weigh in that Margo is much larger than Hatton to begin with he's bigger than Cotto but next to Hatton he would dwarf him. While it would be a good win for Margo the difference in size can't be overlooked.

But I agree that the Cotto win is the same level, or slightly better, than any of Mayweather's wins. :D

I understand all that, but you are missing the point. PBF's mission would have been to clear the 147 division.... who cares about DLH and Hatton? See what I am saying.

PBF could have made a deal with Arum for just two fights... the fights Vs Margarito and Cotto, that's it, after all he was ok with the 8 mil to fight Margo....right?

What happened was that, PBF wanted to do what Oscar has been doing and that is jumping from division to division and make a lot of money in the shortes period of time, and in order to do that he had to fight DLH and Hatton. I DON'T BLAME HIM FOR THIS, but he talked a lot about legacy and most of the times legacy and money don't match well together, and that's were the problem is.

There is no way in hell that PBF would have made the money he made fighting Hatton and DLH by fighting Cotto and Margarito. He wanted the money and put the legacy in stand by.......

Arum is an ass.... we all know that, but PBF didn't know what he wanted.

This is true. I cannot think of a prime fighter who Mayweather beat in more conclusive fashion who was better than Cotto.

What people fail to understand is we could do this all day. I guess William's win over Margo is better than anything on PBF's resume since he beat Margo who beat Cotto. I guess Quintana's win over Williams is better than anything on PBF's resume since he beat Williams who beat Margo who beat Cotto. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Please look at the Ring's P4P ranking when Corrales fought Floyd, he was not ranked in the top 10. Boxrec rankings mean nothing. They currently have Nonito Donaire ranked in their top 10 and Kelly Pavlik #1.

imo the answer is yes but it doesn't make Margo a greater fighter than PBF.
