It's okay man, don't worry about it.

Hand wrap cheaters are infinitely worse than (supposed) drug cheaters.

But there was no actual evidence against Margarito. Just accusations and a piece of wrap that *may* have hardened *if* XY and Z happened to it.

Read up on the case details if you dont believe me.

Mosley on the other handed admitted juicing.

When I read about it I thought it sounded more like they found plaster than sweat unless Margarito was on a very weird diet, but was it just some dust from a cracked wall or was it enough to make a difference?

That was what the real question was and it was never answered. I assume it would have been pretty obvious if it was brick level loading, so I tend to think it wasn't?

They should just require fresh, sealed wraps for high level fights the way they do with gloves.

Nah. That’s oversell. I was a fan prior as well. He was like the terminator. Just kept coming. And throwing leather. But the idea that he only sweated into old wraps is risiculous and false. Or that it was merely traces of substances. There were numerous testimonies from those on scene who inspected them, and who said that they were smeared with a foreign substance and harder to the touch. It’s all in the hearing transcripts. Don’t listen to those who want to rewrite history. The guy was busted in the act trying to cheat.

He got off with a relatively light suspension because he didn’t actually get to go thru with it, and his trainer jumped on the grenade for him.

It’s no coincidence he never won a significant fight again.

I mean, Manny Pacquiao and then Cotto smashing his eye into paste probably didn't do him any favors in that regard either, but your point stands.

“Shane Mosley said last night that he inadvertently took two designer steroids — "the cream" and "the clear" — before his championship fight against Oscar De La Hoya in 2003 after he was misled by BALCO founder Victor Conte about what he was actually taking.”

—This from the article you posted.

He admitted they were in his system yes but denied knowingly taking steroids. The same way Margarito denied using illegal wraps but they were on his fists, had to be changed and he never had another knock out for the rest of his career.

Boxing fans who like one fighter but dislike the other now have plausible deniability for their guy. Personally I think they both cheated and both knew they were cheating.

    Just my opinion.

And my opinion is that you don’t go to a guy like Conte unless you want the advantage he provides. Shane can say he didn’t know just like all athletes say they don’t. I think they are lying, for the millions of dollars at stake. With that said, Mosley was still a great fighter to watch.

If you read the actual test results on the pads They said they contained TRACE AMOUNTS of sulpher & calcium which are indeed, in much larger amounts, ingredients of plaster BUT They are also ingredients of HUMAN Sweat in the amounts the test showed which points to it was sweat on the pads
Believe me if the CSAC had one iota of proof it was any effort to load gloves they would have indicted Margarito but they didnt have any. So they just kept the ban in force because they SUSPECTED he may have tried
If they had indicted him he would be a very rich man today & they knew it.
Whatever happened to the good old US saying " Any man is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" There was no court what happened was the prosecution suspected he was guilty
Without doubt in my mind a disgraceful travesty of justice

Six months ??? Margarito lost his licence for nearly 2 years & even the the CSAC hadnt given it him back it was the Texas state commission that allowed him to fight there
