The issue is straight forward from the rules persepctive and highly emotive and convuluted beyond that - I really only agree in full with your first and last sentence:

    First here's the rules

</H5>Second: It is, in my opinion not JUST the dodgy handwrap guys that is at fault.

Remember the wrap that had the "plaster like substance" within it was already signed by the CSAC commissioner.

What is his duty of care as he is the supposed official responsible for the wrapping of hands - What else was he doing in there?

I've talked to many fighters, trainers and even a couple of ex-referee's about this issue - NONE said that wraps are ever just "One 10-yard roll of bandage shall complete the wrappings for each hand." with "One winding of surgeon's adhesive tape, not over one and one-half inches wide, placed directly on the hand to protect that part of the hand near the wrist. Said tape may cross the back of the hand twice but shall not extend within one inch of the knuckles when hand is clenched to make a fist."

To the man not one said that the rules were ever THAT strictly adhered too and so I reckon there is a bigger issue at play here and that is that the officials seem to be there to have a free trip to the fights and to get to hang out with the fighters before they go out.

What is the weight of a commission signature on a wrap?

He was given a one year ban.

Reprehensible or not, he's done the time for the crime.

The thing is his entire "legacy" now has a giant * next to it thanks to his actions.

If he has paid the penaly, then why is Tyson allowed to fight again after biting someones ear half off in a fight?

Don't see how someone can not know. Unless you close your eyes and turn your head every time your hand gets wrapped. I mean it's your hand, you are looking right down at it when they are wrapping you.

the guy in front of you is like your father (maybe even more in many cases since coaches and fighters spend a lot more time together), you're preparing for the biggest fight of your life, some use ipods, some just put their heads down and relax, but i never, ever seen a fighter look at his hands being wrapped from beginning to end.........have you

Part of me says, how could he know? That is absolute trust. If he did know, why did he present his hand so readily?

On the other hand, who busts out cheating for the first time in the second biggest fight of their lives? Then you got to know about Plaster of Paris. It heats up from the chemical reaction. So hot that if you stuck your hand in a bucket of it that it would burn your fingers OFF. If that ish got wet in the fight it would get warm as hell.

I hate to see Margo out. I wanted him to get in there with Williams again and FMJ, but him fighting in Mexico against the AC's wishes might honestly end his career.

Freddy, face it man Margarito knew what was going on with his handwrap. As a fighter how can you not feel the inside of the wrap? Alot of fighters even say Margarito knew he got illegal handwrap. Margarito cheated.
