I didnt know antonio maragrito held the world record for the most recorded punches ever thrown in a boxing match against joshua clottey. He threw 1,675 punches which is the compu box record for the most amount throw in any weight class. Talk about being a pressure fighter. WOW!!
true, n i say cotto wins by TKO 10. jus thought this was an interestin fact specialy for some1 who never got recognition.
I read Ike Ibeabuchi holds this record for heavyweights, with 81 punches per round thrown v David Tua. Quite a difference!
And yet people still discredit his win over clottey:roll: it just goes to show that 99% of you who doubt or Hate Margarito, you have never really watched him fight, you have never took the time to look at what he does in there, simply the majority of those who discredit Margarito are Floyd fans, and I dont really think they discredit him becuase they think they have a case to, I think its becuase Floyd fans are firing right back at Floyd haters, Hate vs hate kinda thing. Trust me as of Saturday night, Margarito is going to have alot of fans on all the forums, Floyd boys be prepaired, I promise you, your going to get a close up look at why so many including Floyd turned this man down.
Margarito keeps his elbows in tight, and for Cotto to get there, he has to walk through some serious bricks that Margarito will be throwing. I understand that Cotto isnt Clottey and such, but I will tell you this Cotto has alot more holes in his game than Clottey does, he doesnt keep his elbows in to protect that body, he is wide open for left or right uppercuts, and his chin has been questionable, I wouldnt say the Judah fight really. Cotto did deal with those shots pretty good and they were square on the button, I am talking Torres and Corley, honestly Corley the temple shot that did big damage, Margaritos looping right hand will score on the temple area and I am sure that is going to be the shot that does the damage.
It's impressive in the sense that it shows just how well conditioned he is. But nothing to really brag about when you consider only 335 of those punches were connects. Eighty percent of them were misses (1,340 out of the 1,675).
Margarito threw some 135 punches in round 2 against Kermit Cintron too. He misses a lot because he's not about punching precision but the main thing that catches my eye is that most of those are hard punches and he has endless stamina... That's why I say Cotto doesn't have much of a chance to outwork him without getting involved, nobody would, not even Mayweather... Floyd had to stay in the pocket and stand up to Hatton's rough housing. Miguel A Cotto may be first all the time like he was against Mosley but he's gonna take a lot of big punches around his body, arms and head.
