That's because no one sees them as "hijacking" the division. How is anyone being screwed? Does the boxing work revolve around Paul Williams to you?

Maybe because Williams is the biggest fight at Welterweight right now for Margarito, especially with Williams' recent signs of serious power. I do know the path Margarito is taking and it's all business at this point, something he's expected to do, the man wants to earn a living and make some money before it's too late. Though when it comes to what's the biggest fight right now it's clear that Williams is the one he should target. Again I repeat, I understand what he's doing and it's smart/logical but when people want to see a certain fight and they don't get it stuff like that happen. It happened recently to Mayweather, ironically the same is happening yet again but for Margarito, who always bashed on Mayweather for not wanting the "best", of course the "best" is referred to him.

 

i know everyone wants Williams and Margarito to rematch. But their first fight was not all that great to be honest. Margarito vs. Cotto WAS a wonderful fight. And lets be honest, is Williams vs. Margarito REALLY the biggest fight @ WW? You keep saying that, but really, how is it that big? IMHO, it's just a good fight. Nothing more. Williams still isn't a big name, NOR has he even fought and beat that many top WW's. It's like he wants to make his claim to fame beating Margarito, after Margarito does all the hard of beating other contenders.

 

Floyd began to suddenly and conveniently alter his image by calling himself a businessman after Arum tried to have him assasinated by Margarito two years ago. If you recall before that Floyd was all about "I'll fight anybody anywhere, if it makes dollars it makes sense, I don't duck or dodge anyone."

Williams though looked like a totally different fighter at MW than vs. Margarito at WW. And both fights he looked superb. Helluva fighter.

 

But how come Williams is not going to take on Clottey for Nov 29? Clottey has challenged Williams twice how, before the first Quintana fight and via his manager, last week. Is Williams a businessman too? looking for a safer opponent than the dangerous Clottey?

 

He fought Margarito after he beat the top contenders you mention, only two fights later and one of them being major and Margarito is far more popular because of how popular and big Cotto was. Williams is only asking for it after Margarito beat Cotto because it obviously WOULD be PPV material and a big fight. Margarito is the #1 Welterweight right now and #2 is Paul Williams so yes this is the biggest fight to make right now. If Margarito was coming off all those wins with the first Williams fight being out of there then sure I'll say that he's looking to get all the credit after one win when Margarito got it beating too many including a big name in Cotto but that's not what's happening here. Margarito is coming off a win over Cotto, Johnson and a loss over Williams. That's a two win streak after his loss to Williams and one of them being major and serious. It makes perfect sense right now so yes this is the best Welterweight fight. I know a fight with Cotto will be more exciting but a rematch with Cotto bigger than a rematch with Williams?, I don't think so.

 

Look at the # of top WW's Williams and Margarito beat. Tell me WHO'S fighting the top WW's. Who beat more?

And since when is a rematch between of two guys who had an excellent fight such a bad thing? Hell, even Cotto has more wins over top WW's then Williams has. it's as if Williams wants Margarito to beat top guys, then beat him so he can somehow inherit those wins. Nope, doesn't work like that.

Williams should not be chasing someone he beat. He has his own belt to worry about. He has plenty of top fighters he can deal with.

Dude....just because he isn't fighting him this exact seciond doesn't mean he won't. They are simply on different paths right now. That doesn't mean they won't fight again. Then what, you going to retract all these statements? That would actually make you loos worse.

And please, for one of the first times in Margarito's career, he has clout. And you say he's now acting like a businessman?

You said it right there....you never really liked Margarito much. And judging from your threads and posts, you still don't. You aern't being objective at all, and are set on seeing this one way. You're way.

atsch You really haven't paid much attention have you. Well, guess what. Margarito HAS beaten more top WW's then Williams has even fought. And now he's going to have a rematch of one of the most anticipated fights of the summer. A fight that didn't need hype. And YOU have a problem with that? Are you realy a boxing fan to be complaining?

 

Scar....their rankings do NOT make the fight big. Fighters make the fight big. Think Vern Forrest vs. Santos would be some huge fight because they are ranked 1 & 2? (if they were, just an example) over Forrest vs. DLH?

Margarito is coming off wins over CINTRON and Cotto. Two top 5 WW's.

Why has everyone jumped the gun so fast? Give it 12 months and i bet all the big fights at welterweight have been made and it is SETTLED as to who the number 1 fighter is.

If Margo doesn't attempt to redeem the loss within 12 months, people would definitely have a right to criticise him. Obviously he has dollars on his mind as the longer they put this fight off the bigger it is going to be. Plus it isn't like Margo is looking at fighting tomato cans he has Cotto and Clottey on the horizon.

 

Williams doesn't have an opponent set for the 29th. They should definately explore a Clottey fight though.

 

You could retract them, but it wouldn't matter. You're still someone who has an irrational outlook on this situation. You're insistence that they do it kinda fortifies that. Now every division will have a clear champ. But since when do losses retroactively supersede FUTURE wins?

Since Margarito vs. Williams, Williams is 1-1 against a top WW. Margarito 2-0. Two wins over top 5 WW's. Funny thing is, Quintana only got a higher ranking DUE to beating Williams, who he immediately lost to. And he was still stopped by Cotto.

Those are things to take into consideration. It's not as simple as "Williams beat Margarito...".

I know exactly why he's chasing Margarito. Margarito is hot. Goosen and Williams know that. They want to have Williams in the position Margarito is in. Well, Williams can wreck as many fools as he wants. Margarito is beating top guys. Let Williams do some of that for a while. Margarito paid his dues like a mofo. Can't exactly say that for Paul.

Dude....anying he'll fight anyone up to 168 is only talk until he does. Kolle @ 160 was good. But he's a fighter prospects fight. Andre Ward beat him a while back.

Do you honestly believe they can't find big fights from 147 to 168? Do yo think they will try and fight mere contedners at those weights? I hope so. His size allows him to be active in more divisions. So getting fights shuold NOT be any problem. And fights against low level fighters should be out of the question. Unless it's a stay busy fight, then those are cool.

What do you think you know what Margarito wants? You've showed you don't like him. Are posters to belive YOU are the moral authority on Margarito? Or YOU KNOW what he wants to be?

For ****s sake man, he's looking at a rematch of one of this years best and most anticipated bouts. So he's not fighting williams next... big ****in deal. Neither guy is retiring soon, they will fight.
