A Cotto rematch would definitely make more money than a Williams at this point. The reason being is that Williams is still relatively unknown to the public at large. The reason for that is that Williams only big fight was against Margarito, which wasn't a big fight at all in terms of box office, in fact I don't even think it was the main event that night. I agree that they both need to fight again eventually, but to do it right now doesn't make financial sense for either of them. This is what gives me pause about Williams. The fact that he lost to Quintana the way he did by being thoroughly outboxed, the way he called out Pavlik then priced himself out when the match became a real possiblity, and the fact that he has no decisive wins against any top ten fighters in 147, 154, or 160. If Williams is so good and so confident, then why doesn't he build up this fight like boxers and promoters normally do. Margarito fought Cintron and Clottey on the same card as Cotto. Why doesn't Sarah Palin do interviews or hold press conferences? Why is Williams fighting bums like Kolle? Margarito has proven himself against many top welters. The burden is on Paul to prove that the Margarito fight wasn't some fluke by beating some other top fighters. And if he wants to be a big draw, he needs to do it decisively, like what Margarito did to Cotto and Cintron. I would much rather see the fight happen knowing that PW is legitimate. And even if he does get exposed, I'm sure it'll still happen. It just won't be as exciting.

The funny thing is it made financial sense to fight Williams when they fought, and then Goosen says he would give AM 4 mil, and it DOESN'T make financial sense. You AM fanatics, not AM's true objective fans are just a bunch of weasels weaseling your way out of seeing the light the AM should rematch Williams not even in his next fight, but the fight after. You fanatics all say Cotto will be ruined in the rematch, and then say, the rematch is legit:good lol...

Good post. Side note: Lance is a AM fanatic. There is nothing wrong with being one. Just don't give us the "Williams refused a rematch with AM".

Maybe you should re-read my post. I didnt say anything about a rematch with Cotto, I have no problem with it. What Im saying is that what was the difference between that and Floyd wanting to fight a rematch with Oscar:huh . In fact Margo beat Cotto more impressively then Floyd beat Oscar. No difference, its only the fighters that are different.

I think that Margo should make MONEY, and as I said, as long as he dont start fighting guy that has lost 10 Im fine with it:good

I think Margarito fans know that Fearless floyd mayweather is going to come back and try to regain the welterweight title from Paul Williams. Then Margarito will fight the winner.

Paul Williams realizes that he could fight Margo and lose, but he still wants to fight. He's rather be a real champion that just a beltholder. Margo is just content to be WBA Champ Antonio Margarito. Paul's willing to play all or nothing, and Margo's content to milk this thing for as much as it's worth.

I can't believe this.
Margarito IS a welterweight. He's been fighting at 147 since 1996 ffs!!!
If what you say is so, then Williams also "needs to man up and fight a real welterweight that is almost the same size as him", meaning all of Paul's other wins at welterweight are meaningless.
And you make it sound like beating Cotto is a walk in the park. He was #1 and the WBA champ!!!!!
