I'd say so. I'm not sure if I call the fight 50/50 but it's rather close. But with the books having Margo in the 160-200 range and Cotto around a -200 I'd say that's a bit steep. Margo's chances at the worse, I think around 40% which would leave him at a +150. Cotto being seen as the near 70% chance as the victor seems steep. I'll be rooting for Cotto, so I hope I'm wrong.

However, to not waste another thread on a topic still related to the fight I'll just say this. Watching the first 24/7 (And second one) it seems evident to me that Cotto's putting himself at a psychological disadvantage. Plaster or not, if Margo hits as hard as he did last time that puts Cotto in the same position psychological as the last fight. It might change his entire perspective on whether Margo used plaster or not, even if he did and punches a little harder (The fight is at Super WW after all). I just don't think it's a good mentality to have to go into a fight. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but don't be so definitive as if that was the reason he put you at risk and beat you up because what if it wasn't. What if you're wrong, Cotto...

Maybe the bookies think Margo's handwraps played a big role in the last fight and maybe they think Cotto has more left and will box a smarter fight. I honestly don't know how much of a role those handwraps played for Margarito. I have a feeling his relentless pressure and uppercuts would have got to Cotto anyway but I'm not sure

I think this whole fight depends on how badly Margarito has aged.I can't see Cotto hurting him and style wise,Margarito holds the cards. It's Margarito's to lose for me.Surprised at the odds.

Yeah, I think they think Cotto has more left. Margo was battered by Pac, and looked awful in his fight previously, which gives me a good deal of hope that Cotto can win. But Cotto's mobility and speed is not quite what it was in the 1st Margo fight. Will that play toward a more Thrilla in Manilla action type fight that will favor Margo, even if Margo is more past it? I think Cotto will be determined to move based on what I see in the 24/7. We'll see if Margo can produce the same speed of pressure as he did in the one. It should be great fight regardless.

It's just the first fight was almost the exact same odds, which is the strange thing about it considering it feels boxing fans seem to think Margo has the edge. I'm not quiet sure if that was the same sentiment for the 1st fight as well.

    1. the fight's in msg in front of a raucous, overwhelmingly pro cotto crowd.

    2. margarito's coming off of the most sustained beating of his life.

    3. fans and pundits alike believe margarito had some help in the glove department.

those all contribute to the 2/1 underdog odds

At the same time, Cotto was a 2/1 favorite the first go round. And think, we know now of the trouble Cotto has with Margo's style. Some say Cotto's made for him (I disagree, but the result is there). I guess you're right.

Cool, I'll make even more off of this fight then. Margarito stops Cotto again.

I see what your saying, but the first go round was a completely different set of circumstances and alot has happened since so it's tough to compare. also, it's up in the air whether cotto has trouble with margarito's style or margarito's gloves, something that will be answered to a degree on december third. cotto hasn't fought anyone that emulates margarito's style completely since his first bout with margarito. clottey was tough as nails and mayorga liked to brawl but style wise they're both different from margarito on the whole.

His eye doesn't work. Can't be a really good boxer if your eye doesn't work.

Not really surprising. Cotto's got the belt, he's basically fighting at home with a huge PR fan base in NYC that love him, he's proven he can win at 154 where Margo can't, Margo has been battered and hasn't fought in over a year from the last beat down. His eye may or may not be functioning correctly. Could probably be even a bigger favorite.
