Let me get this straight: ZAKMAN -- the self-proclaimed chin-checker of ESB, the guy who makes his supposed claim to fame in determining which fighters will get sparked before it happens, is admonishing other posters on here for JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS?

    That some funny ****.

So without PROOF you can establish guilt just based on what? Opinion? Assumption??

Good thing you weren't around when the Constitution was framed!!:patsch

So the one time Margarito did it...he happened to get caught.

    Right.

This will hang over Antonio's career just like the hand wraps do for Trinidad.

Yet this one wasnt about the style of the wrap, it was about inserts, which is even more detrimental to his reputation.

Not to mention, if Antonio does not knock out a world class opponent after this discovery, it will be SEVERELY tainted.

Bull****. A plaster cast with padding on the inside would not hurt your hands. It would add extra weight and instead of a soft padding inside the gloves you'd have a hard plaster. You don't think that would cause more damage?

Hand wraps are inspected by commissions before EVERY fight. And there is NO evidence from previous fights, none whatsoever.

It is amazing to me how sports fans take ONE isolated incident and then ASSUME, without ANY evidence, that this indicates a whole pattern. And all the evidence on this incident isn't even IN!!!:patsch

    Perception Zak. Perception.

And I do find it a little naive to assume that the first time they would have done this was against a 37 year old former lightweight who had previously been beaten by Margarito's last opponent.

No evidence, but the would you say if Margarito was caught once, he likely did it before? I think so.

Again, where's the EVIDENCE?? Boxing commissions inspect fighters handwraps before EVERY fight. Someone from the opposing camp OBSERVES this process. The odds of anything like this occurring without it being exposed is next to ZERO.

Let's say a few days from now the boxing commission verifies the substance Margarito hand on his wraps was indeed illegal. From this point on the boxing commission has the authority to execute an investigation into Margarito's history of hand dressings. Margo has opened up himself to future inquiries. Those are the facts, Zak. If the commission investigates as they should, what will be discovered may be very damaging to Margarito.

Same thing happened with Tito Zak.

Like Roach said in 24, most of the time its somebody else, not the most educated of the trainers observing the oppositions tape job.

I'm not saying he's guilty of anything yet, but the fact remains that this will hang over his former career forever.

Gauze and Tape. Thats it. Anything else is illegal, and would be noticeable by both fighter and the hand wrapper if it were present.

One thing for sure, it puts another black mark against the name of boxing. Not only is there continuous clouds around judges decisions, politics, boxing commisions and the drugs but now we have this. I really can't believe that there isn't legislation in place that every boxer has their wrap throughly inspected before each fight, but I wouldn't doubt it if someone told me differently. Surely each fighter should have their hands wrapped in front of the referee and then signed, regardless if how important or meaningless the fight is?!!
