When it was first announced that they had found sulfur and calcium on the handwraps of Margarito, I questioned the findings on this forum by stating I wish they would be a little more clearer than that and actually let it be known the amounts found in the wraps relative to the amounts found in plaster of Paris......

.....the reason I questioned the findings, was because the wraps up to the point of the hearings, had'nt turned rock hard......thats what made me question that it may not be plaster of Paris.

All I want is for all the facts and the truth to be fully disclosed to the public......if the experts say that the amounts of sulfur and calcium in the wraps were consistent with the amounts that could be found in plaster of Paris, then I'm with the commision that Margarito serve his full suspension.

However, the only thing that has been disclosed by the lab experts is that sulfur and calcium were found in the wraps, but it was never disclosed that the amounts that were found were consistent with Plaster of Paris, and therefore the wraps could be found to have contained plaster of paris.

At this point, Arum has a case in what he speaks.....if he's wrong, its up to the commision to elaborate and shoot down what Arum is saying.

They don't have to respond to Old man Arum.. he's spouting off about Sodium and Calcium.. when the lab results brought back Sulfur and Calcium.

 

damn right. there have been all sorts of unofficial and unsigned articles floating about this issue containing all sorts of erroneous information. the point is they found chemicals that bond when wet and oxygenate to form a hard crystalline layer that can be absorbed into a porous fabric before hardening. sodium and calcium could, in theory, have a similar, but less extreme, less fast acting effect, but even that doesn't jive with the theory presented here chemically or logically. of all the crazy theories that have been proposed to get margo off the hook, not a single one of them has any basis in chemical-scientific fact.

 

hand cream coud make them balmy and syrupy, a bit, but that, so clealrly, is not what happened. that's like saying that a house burned down because someone might have had a fever inside.

 

How do you explain that to date, the wraps confiscated had yet to harden like plaster of Paris?......the words used were "firm, but not rock hard."

Boxing is a proffesional sport.....I think the commision owes it to the buying public to explain as much as they can, including and explanation on why the wraps had not hardened like plaster.

They want to say that the wraps contained elements of plaster, but yet they did'nt harden like plaster.
This needs to be explained by the commision and not just swept under the rug.

 

to some degree, i agree with you. there has been mostly misinformation about all this because boxing comissions have no reliable mechanisms for dealing with any of this stuff quickly or reliably. there is just a war of competing opinions and rumors. there was obviously some kind of foul play, either deliberate or otherwise, concerning the wraps and it is very likely that no one will ever know what...yet punishment have and will continue to be handed out and upheld. i think margo and capetillo deserve to be dealt with, i just wish there was some way to get to the damn, simple, direct, scientific truth of it instead of wading through the rumor mill and trying to piece a cogent theory together.

Boxing is this way from top to bottom.......no one wants to explain anything or be held responsible for anything.......its the main reason why boxing has bogus refs, judges, and higher up's.......no one wants to be held accountable, so they just piece together as little as they can and avoid getting to the nitty gritty heart of the matter.......

I got to say, I love boxing, but the people that run it just stink!:-(
