    @IntentionalButt

    Here's a clip of Marion Wilson being floored by Jimmy Thunder who is known for one of the quickest Heavyweight KOs in history.

    16:02 for reference seems like body punches effected him more so than head punches though.

    Hmm, all body shots? Hard to say from that angle.

    I rank Mercer at #1, McCall at #2 and Wilson at #3. The reason why I have Mercer above McCall is that Ray fought a lot more proven punchers. McCall only fought two genuine punchers in his long career - Lewis and Williamson while Mercer fought took the best from Morrison, Cooper, Lennox and Wlad. Surely Wlad dropped him with left hook and eventually stopped him, but 41 y.o. Mercer showed tremendous chin in that fight as well. I don't count Briggs "knockout" because 45 y.o. Mercer obviously laid down there after Briggs hit him with a serie of rabbit punches. Mercer himself admitted later that he laid down in a hope that referee will disqualify Briggs.

    Also, while Mercer was probably more skilled than McCall having better jab and much more versatile offensive arsenal, he wasn't a counter puncher while McCall could counter very well that kept his opponents wary of getting countered. Therefore, except of Lewis rematch and some moments of Holmes fight (who definitely wasn't a puncher at 45 y.o.) McCall rarely got hit with clean punches. Unlike Mercer who took the very best punches/combinations from Morrison, Cooper, Lennox and Wlad.

    As for Wilson, he obviously also had a great chin but he was also a spoiler which make it harder for his opponents to land on him cleanly.

    Apologies, I skim read as a H2H contest between Mercer and McCall and voted Mercer.

    If I'd read properly, I'd have voted McCall.

    Marion Wilson, btw, also spent years sparring hundreds of rounds with both of his era's dominant super heavies, Lewis & Bowe - in fact, ditching the latter for the former because he paid better. Wilson earned far more from sparring than his actual sanctioned bouts ever netted him (a mere 100k total career-long)

    It's here, 39 seconds in:

    Skull ramming / left hook wombo-combo. :sisi1 In other words, vintage Holyfield.

    McCall also faced Frank Bruno who was a very hard puncher.

    Safe to say the bulk of Mercer's reputation is based on how much everybody rates Morrison's power?

    Forgot about him. Although Coetzer said Bruno was much lesser puncher than old Foreman or Bowe

    No. He took impressive amount of Lennox Lewis best punches without being hurt even slightly
