wasn't Lloyd sort of finished at this point? He had lost to Starling badly a year or so before. The problem with Breland was he was not durable at all. He just could not compete at the professional level too well. but as an amateur he might have been one of the best. Yet we see Rigo who was a great amateur and he made the transition. So who knows why some can and some cannot.
Yes with hindsight he was. But going into the bout Breland and Honeyghan were rated third and fourth (to Starling and Brown) at 147, and just as many were picking Lloyd as they were Mark.
By all accounts Mark Breland was one of the most gentlemanly fighters to have laced on a glove. Maybe as a pro he lacked that killer instinct. Not that accounts for his shortcomings but it wouldn't have helped
people were not that surprised he knocked out Honeyghan in 3 rounds.. Had he knocked out the Honeyghan who stopped Curry, that would have been impressive.
Honeyghan reckoned he went running in the nuclear fallout from the Chernobyl disaster to get himself energised. Errr ok Lloyd :bbb
Let's tell it like it is: Breland was simply too skinny. That's that. He was one of the lankiest people I've ever seen, not just athletes. He looked like he'd snap like a twig just by bouncing around in the ring.
