S0 in 2 years Mark has

    0 fights for 0 dollars.

Yep he is in a great position to be demanding the big money pay days! What was that crazy promoter thinking lol

If Mark is just conning sponsors out of money living the dream then good luck to him. If he is serious about boxing as a career then he keeps busy takes fights on local cards and gets his record to 25 - 35 + wins with no more losses and he then has some bargaining power with OS fights.

Mick Katsidis did it that way and I think he has shown its a perfectly sane way to the top.

there wouldn't be an opponent acceptible for mark to fight in wa. his opponent would have such a dismall record it wouldn't be worth his trouble. i don't even agree that it would be better than not fighting at all. he'd get more from hitting a punch bag imo.

but regardless, he has to start fighting soon or just completely give it up. go do body building instead.

wasting his prime years is wrong. he'll have massive regrets in 20 years time when he looks back if he doesn't pull his finger out soon.

So in comprehensible English are you saying, Whitehead has pulled out of his Aussie title defence because he needs an operation?

who is going to pay to put this on?

there is just not enough money to make a fight like that go ahead on a small fight card imo.

having seen how much trouble leapai had trying to ko cronje, i have no doubt cronje would fight any good fighter, he is as tough as anybody out there.

    De Mori chasing fire

Perth heavyweight boxer Mark de Mori says a June fight against Ghana's John Napari will tell him if he made the right decision in resisting a once strong temptation to quit the sport.

De Mori signed with famed US promoter Don King in 2007 but he has not fought since beating Kevin Karusa in Perth in July 2009.

De Mori has now finally obtained a work visa that will allow him to fight in the US but first will fight Napari to check that "the fire within" remains.

"It's been a long time between fights. I was sitting in Don King's waiting room last December, when there were hold-ups with getting a working visa, and I really did think about quitting. I'd started to hate boxing.

"But I knew if I gave up that I'd regret it. Now that I'm training myself I'm getting a lot more enjoyment out of it. It's about keeping fit and having fun and I'm not putting that constant pressure on myself."

A win over Napari in Perth will make 29-year-old de Mori, who previously had a World Boxing Council rank of No.17, eligible again for high-profile bouts in the US.

He admits he doesn't know a great deal about Napari but says that will only add to his anticipation of the fight.

"All I know is that he's undefeated (in 13 fights). Other than that I don't know much but I think that makes it more interesting and exciting,'' de Mori said.

"The fact that he's from Ghana adds a bit to the fight because the last Ghana fighter to come to Australia was Azumah Nelson, when he knocked Jeff Fenech out (in 1992).

"Hopefully I can get one back for Australia."

    Definately looks in great shape.

I dont know much about De Mori, but for his sake I hope he can
pull this off and at least get a chance to show his wears.

Long time between drinks. Anybody heard anything about his opponent. You would hope this is a tune up fight for Mark and he is not walking into a prospect being put on show purely for Don king to see and sign.

Why the hate for mark on here? It's not his fault. Sure I'm a nut hugger and a fan but he always comes in shape and ready to fight which is more than can be said for most HW guys. Still, a fight for the Aussie title to keep busy would be nice.
