He'll need to find some boxing skills to go with his wide swinging punches first.

With a couple of exceptions skill doesn't seem to be a priority
    in Aussie heavyweight boxing. :yep

Is this a trick question ?
There are more registered genuine heavyweights [quite a few inactive] around now than in past decades. Whether or not there is any real talent amongst the younger fighters is yet to be seen.
Meehan is still the only one who can mix it with the big boys.

As far as skills go, I've seen better basic skills in some 10yr olds at amateur tournaments than some of the fatties who get their heads on TV.

    Seriously?

Edwards has got skills, he's got a great right cross, lots of power and when it lands the other bloke doesn't usually get up.

With better conditioning Edwards would be the current Australian HW champion.
In their recent draw Edwards showed far better skills than Kirby who uses a two punch attack with zero defence.

Fans and doubters will get another look at the 4 fight veteran Edwards when
he fights in Melbourne on 14/10/11 versus TBA.
