He fought at middle weight and is Larry Holmes brother. Never saw him fight but I guess he never really stepped up in competition or went very far. Anyone have anything to share about him ?
I was going to say that he stopped John Collins in 1 round but I was wrong; Collins stopped him in 2. Another guy with a more famous brother stopped Collins in 1. Robbie Sims.
I Think the Collins fight ruined it for him. Remember reading about him briefly back in the day, but not to a great extent.
I remember Mark Holmes well and his bloated record. Every month I would pick up a mag and there would be another Mark Holmes result over another non-descript fighter. This went on and on and finally i read where Larry was asked about Mark's career so far and he really summed it up sharply when he replied, "It's about time Mark either spits or get off the pot." (I cleaned it up). Finally he signs to fight Collins and I think he was like 38-0 at the time (or thereabouts) and gets blown away in 2 rounds. Not sure if he fought again. Can't be bothered looking him up.
