After last night it couldn't have been anymore obvious that the lingering remnants of Pride are on life support... But a few of the golden boys are still hanging on and competing at a respectable level. It's unfortunate that Mitrione and Sonnen aren't competing in the UFC anymore, because the Super Samoan is more than capable of avenging the embarrassing defeats of his former foes and fellow Pride vets. Other than clinging to contender and gatekeeper status will any of these guy achieve the highest mark of the sport and win a UFC title before falling off completely? Overeem and Mousasi have good shots given the sheer chaos of their respective weight divisions. Hunt would do well if he manages to hold on to a top 10 spot until he finally decides to retire, and Rua is probably never going to crack the top 10 but a revenge match against OSP in Japan would be ideal.

The humiliating recent defeats of Gomi, Emelianenko and Silva even though expected have really stung. Miss seeing these dudes compete at their best and wish they would just hang the gloves up and stop tarnishing their legacies. Anyways... These are just incoherent ramblings of a bitter Pride/JMMA fan. Pride never die!

Pride has been gone for a decade now, the fact that there are pride guys still hanging around in the rankings just goes to show how strong that promotion was. Pride FC was the essence of what MMA is supposed to be: fighting for honour/respect, legendary tournaments, epic camp rivalries(BTT vs Cute Boxe etc), better scoring system/criteria, better rules, Ring>Octagon.

I remember when Cro Cop went to the UFC and got knocked out by Gonzaga, I was so disappointed and really felt Cro Cop was past his best. I thought Cro Cop was going to be the man at Heavyweight, man was I wrong.

Who really knows what will happen. I could have sworn when the F.U.C{sic} brought Olenik in he was going to catch 2-3 beatings as cannon fodder for prospects then get shown the door.

That would be hilarious, a 40+ year old Russian/Ukrainian they brought in as cannon fodder wins their title. LOL Only thing funnier would have been if Roy Nelson won it.

I forgot to mention Werdum in the OP... Obviously he's more than worthy of mention due to his his high level fights with Nog, Overeem and Kharitonov in Pride.

    I loved Pride.

I introduced so many of my buddies to it.

    So many classic fights.

The only real criticisim I can have of Pride, is that they let Wandy keep his title despite losing in the GP.

I can't think of any other negative.

Well aside from the Coleman match fixes that is.
