I think what he means papa is that JuanMa is more in the mold of a Trinidad in that he's a more personable guy...more of "The people's champ" in a sense...

No, I think your dislike for Cotto is getting in the way. Cotto has proven himself even in defeat. Juanma has to fight an elite fighter or one of the other champions and win impressively. Surpassing Cotto? He could get knocked out in his next fight and you will be saying I had a feeling he was not going to live up to his potential. This bandwagon **** is for the birds.

Come on guys don't be blinded by early KO's and dismantling of a 118 pounder. Give him some time to breath. If he does not live up to what we are thinking he will accomplish, he will be trashed by many. Tito was compared to Cotto and he did not like it so maybe that is why he is taking a liking to Juanma. Plus, Cotto does not look like the I want to be best friends with a guy people were trying to compare him with.

When did i hop bandwagons?? It's a known fact that I was never a fan of Cotto and the veteran posters know it..

BTW i was always a fan of Lopez. It's just that some of his nuthugging fans annoyed me..

    Wtf u mean bandwagons?

Yes, I agree there. I still think tention was built between Tito and Cotto due to people trying to compare both and possibly Cotto becoming better than Tito. This was before Cotto lost though.

Yea I agree with this...Cotto was getting the attention Tito was used to and I don't think he liked it...I remember before the Zab fight this was brought into question..Zab kept saying that Tito picked him to win and that after he beat Cotto he would be the grand marshal with Tito at the PR day parade...Tito finally came out and picked Cotto to win..but I think he did so reluctantly..

Well, my apologies then. I confused you with some others. It's a broken record. I have been a poster for a little while and love boxing, but I do read threads and posts and sometimes I say nothing due to so much nonsense. It is like a pattern with some posters. They will so casually say I am a fan of a fighter and when the fighter gets in trouble or loses. He is all of a sudden, a hype or I knew he was not going anywhere. Juanma is a very good fighter and he has still a long way to go. He has to use his jab much more consistantly and box more. He knows he has the power and I hope he does not fall in love with his power. Give him time and he will deliver. I don't know if Izzy or Marquez still have it. If they do for sure will not be a cake walk for Juanma and he will have to bring much more to the table than just power. You guys probably will not like this post, but this is how I feel about the kid. Finito your okay in my book.

****, you can make a ton of money with pornos. Just give him time and if he fails, give him his props for trying to be the best not trying to be the next Cotto or better.

Honestly, I m not sell yet on Juanma , i was at the fight last night and i think that hes one dimensional and not a master boxer as HBO make him to be, Cotto is a more complete boxer than Juanma and Cotto is a proven champion even in his lost against Margarito he showed more skills than in Juanma victory last night. With that said i hope Juanma can improve and correct his defensive flaws, and become what people expected from him.

Juanma needs to get big fights to have an opportunity. He's already at a disadvantage because of his weight class which is limited in marquee names. Outside of Marquez and Vasquez, who aren't even big amongst casuals, 122 really doesn't offer much else. Once he moves up and fight bigger names, then he'll have a shot to surpass Cotto in popularity. But as long Cotto is fighting in the talent rich welter weight division, he'll always have that advantage going for him.

Juanma is good, but lets see what happens. I don't agree with the people saying Junama showed many flaws because this is the only time he's done them and it was after he tested Penalosa's power and decided he could take it. I know he squared up sometimes, he also ignored his defence at moments, but it wasn't really a mistake that he can't control, it was the way he chose to fight becuase he was the much bigger and stronger fighter. Watch all of his other fights and you'll see he doesn't square up like that and shoot away, he actually moves, feints, and counters. Look at his previous fights and this becomes obvious. If he makes these mistakes again is because he's not using his potential at his maximun and has the wrong mentality. He already proved he's a skilled boxer, last night was about going some hard rounds and finding out if he was inlove with KO power. He passed with flying colors, now he just needs some seasoning to gain the expirience where he could become scary good. The potential's there, now we just need Bob Arum to work his magic in the match making department, and Juanma to keep the right mentality to fullfill his big potential.

Juanma definitely has more personality and charisma than Cotto. But it's difficult for him to gain too much popularity and recognition when he's fighting at super-bantamweight, a division that no one other than true boxing fans cares about.
