Mark Anthony Reyes Jr born April 5, 1996 is a 5'9 Welterweight with a 14-1 12 KO's record. Born in adn fighting out of Tampa, Florida, USA. To be perfectly honest, I didn't know a hell of a lot about Mark before his Showtime debut earlier this year (2021) on ShoBox, against top fellow prospect Janelson Figueroa Bocachica, who I also rate quite highly, where he'd go on to pick up his first L. But in my research for that match, when checking out footage on Reyes, I came away far more impressed with him than I was with Bochchica, who I'd seen a few years earlier. So much so, I picked him for the upset. Yes, he lost, but it was anything but clear. The fight was so razor close, the end result was a Majority Decision for Bocachica. Personally I think Reyes won it by a round. But it was a Salita card, and Janelson is a Salita fighter, however had it been a DiBella card, who promotes Reyes, the result could have easily swayed in the opposite direction. A draw would have been preferable and quite appropriate. That fight showed that he's a hell of a counter puncher, has tremendous grit, and a hell of a chin, because Bocachica is a big puncher (he's the guy that dropped Teofimo Lopez hard with headgear) and he checked it flush several times. With Reyes returning the favor.

His style is quite fan friendly and versatile. He's quite adept at meticulously and methodically marching down opponents while looking for openings with his keen eye and ruthlessly exploiting the ones he finds and if he can't find one, he makes one. His punches are precise, compact and almost all thudding and hurtful. You can tell by the sound they make, the response of his opponents, they're usually visibly jarred by the impacts. He's also quite skilled on the backfoot, or at the very lest, controlling range and countering people as they attempt to close the distance. His jab is forceful and thudding, his head movement decent, and he controls range quite well and his short straight right is a terrifying thing of beauty. He also has shown that he has great stamina, because he finished the match against Bocachica the far stronger of the two, and had the match been a 12 rounder, who knows what would've happened. So even in controversially losing his first step up, he probably ended up learning more from that loss tharn many do from 10 wins against journeymen. Also, he just strikes me as the type of guy that won't let this bump in the road even come close to derailing him. So his ceiling I still consider to be quite high &he's still more than capable of becoming a genuinely player in the increasingly stacked Welterweight division. So check out the Cyclone of Tampa Bay in action.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Incredible action packed match, one of the better low level wars thus far in 2021.
