@ Flyweight. How would Too Sharp handle the nonstop pressure of Chocolatito? Can he stay disciplined and box and counter while using his jab or will he fire away, pressure, and slug with him? Part of me thinks that Too Sharp will be willing to fight on the inside and let his hands go, I think he has the tools to beat Gonzalez at his own game with his superior speed and probably better power. Too Sharp UD.
Too Sharp came around at the wrong time. If he came around just a little bit later, and possibly had the backing of the HBO hype machine, they would have propped him up as a P4P star. I think he had all the tools to defeat Chocolatito. He could at least hold his own with Choco in a war, and from the outside he had better ability. And yes, Johnson was the bigger puncher of the two. Chocolatito threw BEAUTIFUL, hurtful combinations, but Too Sharp had more devastating power. I think Johnson wins an 8-4 UD in an excellent fight.
I like Gonzalez pretty big here. Johnson is wildly overrated in my view. Easy to look good if you never venture into the top five - even the lesser fighters he met were probably better than most of what Johnson managed. Gonzalez looked absolutely world beating against fighters that would have cleaned house against Johnson's opposition.
I agree with @Xplosive and think Johnson would take a clear decision. But having watched some of too sharp this past year I might be biased,
Gonzalez would pressure and grind him down to a decision at 112. Not many people ever can handle Choco around these weight and lower IMO. Choco is the much more proven fighter as well.
Gonzalez vs Villoria is an absolutely beautiful destruction. And vs Estrada at 108... People sleeping on Choco's defense as well, as if Johnson would land at will. Estrada and Villoria couldn't touch him with full on combinations. And he's pounding them in return.
Bump. My opinions on this match up is starting to change. I think is very close and can see Chocolatito beat Too Sharp. Although Johnson is a very talented and skilled operator who can still give Gonzalez a helluva fight.
