Tomorrow around this same time, airing live from Serbia on ArenaSport 2. On the line will be the WBC Mediterranean light heavyweight title, in Nikolić's first defense. The undefeated Belgradian captured the belt in May of 2019 with a close UD over tough, awkward Italian prospect (and then also unbeaten) Adriano Sperandio...but might be taking more of a step up here. Bois certainly is better than his 15-7-1 record suggests. Battle of first responders, btw. (Nikolić is a firefighter in his native Serbia, while Bois Jr. is a French cop - though whether he's a gendarme or policier I'm not clear)
In the co-main will be Gregory "Crazy Frenchie" Trenei (aka number twelve of Edgar Berlanga's history-chasing streak of consecutive victories by KO1, now at 14 ...and yes that is Trenei's actual ring name ), versus MMA crossover Slađan Dragišić in a middleweight 6rder.
You don't have to have access to the Mediterranean "sea" to be Mediterranean. It's a region. Anyway I digress. Come on nikolic!!!!
"The Mediterranean Region - European Commission Mar 5, 2020 · This biogeographical region includes the Mediterranean Sea and seven Member States" - per Europa.eu ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Serbia has always been grouped as part of the Balkans, as far as regional classification. (Aside from when it was part of the short-lived nation of "Serbia & Montenegro" after the breakup of Yugoslavia, with Montenegro generally being coastal and thus considered part of the Mediterranea but its adjacent neighbor and former co-state, not) It'd be just as weird if a Portuguese boxer competed for a "Balkan title".
