Starling. He stifle Forrests rhythm building, get in close and nullify him. Forrest is also open to wide hooks, and those shots were in Starlings arsenal as well.

Forrest may well get some sharp shots through, but he usually looked ragged as fights went on and I think Moochy, as long as he remains fairly active, should win it on points, though he'll have to come from behind I imagine, Bumphus' had him puzzled and was similarly rangy.

Forrest. Even when he was faced with a fighter who could stymie his rhythm, he could rely upon an ability to string punches together in such a way as to catch the eye of the judges. This plays out a bit like Blocker-Starling, I think, with Marlon landing the cleaner punches, but just not throwing enough to overcome the Viper's long range, volume based attack.

Marlon, when he wanted to fight, was tough to beat.Unless he has one of his clowning moments, the Magic Man beats Forrest by a UD in 12.

Good fight. I think Marlon would intimidate Vernon and take him out of his zone.

I know someone will say that Starling couldn't get past a poor man's version of Forrest in Blocker, but that was an aging Starling and one that I still thought beat Blocker.

I think Starling would handle Forrest the same way he handled a young Simon Brown.

Get in close, take away the opponent's power, and use superior body strength and infighting skills to outpoint the opponent.

Yeah, Blocker was Marlons last fight and he still had 5 rounds on my card.

Forrest has power in his punches as well as the ranginess, but when did that ever bother Moochy?

    Starling stifles Forrest.

I see this being a really technical jabathon, I like Forrest's speed to see him get off first and edge a close decision, maybe one that it depends what you're looking for, because Blocker's defence would neutralise allot of Forrest's work. I think Forrest's most similar opponent is Ike Quartey, I'm not sure who's better to be honest. Forrest was past his best there too.

Vernon was unlucky to miss out on the Delahoya/Trinidad sweepstakes and unlucky to suffer career debilitating injuries. Oscar should have fought Forrest before Mosley and Oscar should have certainly fought Forrest instead of Pacquaio. If he gets the Oscar win and I think his better jab would see him deserve a decision, then he probably goes down rated allot higher in history

A usual James Slater agenda driven post .
Starling participating in a jabathon ? allowing it ? when did he ? in his last fight that he didn't lose either ?
Forrest was past his best vs Quartey but Quartey was in his prime every time he fought n American fighter , regardless of age .
And really ? Quartey like Starling ? close in ranking yes , but in style ?
I think that if Starling dealt with Breland , Blocker & Nunn then Forrest would not have been especially difficult 4 him and Forrest would not have been as enthusiastic 2 exchange (& good at it) like Molinares was .
I don't pick a winner but based on relatively similar opponents & d upper hand in ranking I think Starling should b considered d slight favorite if forced 2 pick .

    Bump.
Good match up. Starling has the physicality and defense to make this very difficult for Forrest, so long as he stays sharp. I'll take Starling to outbox Forrest.
