Prime Benitez edges him, but any other version, Starling has a chance to reverse.

Bad style matchup of two great fighters. It'd be tough to pick a winner. I'd go with Benitez because he got more done in the ring. Not by much, though.

Prime Benitez beats a prime Starling in a snoozer of a chess match that only boxing afficianados would appreciate. Not many punches would land in this one, IMO.

If both are at their best, I would say Benitez barely edges Starling by a point, half a point in England, the gap widens if one shows up less than 100%.

If both are at their bests...... I dont think Starling comes close.

Benitez was a level above him.

It might b hard 2 imagine Starling doing better than Benitez vs his opponents , but it is hard 2 imagine Benitez doing better than Starling against his opponents . Benitez would have had d better looking scorecards but 1 must wonder more about d stoppages (both ways) .
But then Benitez' size advantage would have helped him in this comparison (which is h2h obviously) .

Benitez would have had a much better chance at beating Curry than Starling.

And Starling could NEVER put on a master class like Benitez put on against Duran.

He put on a master class against Honeyghan, but obvioulsy its no comparison between Honeyghan and Duran.

Basically what I'm trying to say is. Starling was an EXCELLENT fighter when he was "on". Benitez was a SPECIAL fighter when he was "on".

Starling beat nongreats, but no one like Benitez speed and ability. Benitez beats Starling by decision. Not an action packed fight. Starling blocked punches with his gloves buy Wilfred blocked by defense. Wilfred's defense is a better way to defend obviously.

While Duran was definitely much greater than Honeyghan Benitez didn't come close 2 destroying him despite being d bigger man and d younger man by 7 years , 3 negligible facts I suppose , but Starling did destroy a slightly younger , slightly bigger man in Honeyghan so it's not like Benitez won this comparison at all .

I doubt if Benitez would have beaten Curry more than Starling did and I doubt that Starling would have been stopped by Leonard , then I also doubt that Benitez would have done as good vs a prime Michael Nunn .
