Marlon Starling 'Ward and Mayweather are beatable in my era'

Its always the same. Johnson said Louis would never have a chance against the guys in his era.

Dumb statement, he's not even a big welter so Mayweather was a beatable welterweight as far back as half a century ago.

The fact that he is still competing at 36 at much higher than his best weight is admirable.

Floyd would still be a PFP fighter in the "good ole days". I don't think he'd be undefeated, but he's a PFP and ATG fighter. He's been a world champ since 21 and has, naturally/cleanly, climbed 4-5 weight classes while retaining utter dominance.

Floyd's skills are better than many of the greats of the past. Seriously, the guy's impressive. But there are certain fighters I just don't think he would've matched up well against in. A prime Hagler is serious ****ing trouble for Floyd, IMHO

 

Mike McCallum vs Mayweather at 154. I'd pay to see Mayweather get decapitated worse than Jones-Tarver II.

Starling was a very good fighter in a solid WW era.

The talent level was in large part better in the 80s, but Floyd would be successful in any era.

 

Louis would kill every fighter on Johnson's record including Johnson and he'd do it with ease. Max Baer would knock them all out too. Those guys made John Ruiz look like Sugar Ray.

I also find it funny that a guy who didn't become the man in his division until hos second to last win is gonna talk ****. And he won it from a faded, never that great Honeyghan.:LOL:

I like Starling but he sounds like a real idiot. ESP when talking about a Guy who's division didn't exist until his last handful of fights.

 

How many fighters did McCallum decapitate? Curry? Yeah I see your point because Floyd always pulls straight back with his chin in the air..... And he gets dropped, rocked and stopped all the time so McCallum could probably kill him with a jab.
