    Round 1

Gaballo is circling wide, jabbing high and hooking the body. Torres using fake-out steps inside and then breaking laterally, trying for his own reach-in jab but getting countered with left hooks downstairs. Cuffing hook up top by Gaballo, partially blocked but causes Torres to stumble. Another partially blocked hook, knocking Torres off balance again. Gaballo with a wild left hook and line drive right hand combo charging in, barely dodged as Torres sways back. Gaballo tries a straight right lead on the body, again coming in wild with his left low - and Torres catches him with a big lef hook! Gaballo teetering, and holds. They break and Torres bashes him with a looping right and left hook and Gaballo is down!! Torres continues whacking him with roundhouse rights and left hooks - Gaballo knocked into the ropes and down again! Gaballo up with his goalposts raised but Torres just drills his way through with power salvos hooking around the gloves and uppercuts splitting them. Gaballo down hard a third time and ruled out.

    KO1!!!

Pretty stunning upset there - Gaballo was ranked #1 by the WBO and #4 by the IBF at 118lbs!

As of yesterday the Assassin could claim he had only ever been defeated professionally by the great Nonito Donaire.

Now he's been blitzed inside a round by essentially a 36 year old greenhorn with a 13-5 record and no previous world rated opposition. Ouch.

Overconfidence did him in, I think. That and a general lack of technique defensively. In the first minute+ it felt like only a matter of time until Torres was kayoed.

Thailand's anthem sounds like something from a Wes Anderson film.

Busty long-legged Filipinas in tanktop bras and black leather shorts needs to be the default setting for ring card girls worldwide from now on, I've just decided. :deal:

    Round 1

Tapales is calmly catching Jankaew's quick poky left jab in the palm of his right mitt, hunkering down on a wide squat base. Jankaew is chased off by a couple of southpaw jab feints from Tapales. Jankaew drifting side to side, looking for an opening on the much shorter Tapales. Jankaew dips and hooks the body. They flurry their way inside and go down in a messy tumble as Jankaew slips while attempting to hold. Tapales now dialed in, laser focused, pressuring with his leading foot inside Jankaew's, bobbing up and down threatening both head and body, keeping Jankaew guessing. Lead left by Tapales as Jankaew is circling by the ropes, blocked, but it was a diversion. The right hook crashes into the unprotected side of Jankaew's head and down he goes. Tapales moves in swiftly, southpaw jab popping, pulling his head and upper body back to dodge desperate 1-2s by Jankaew. Clinch. Break. Jankaew tries a big straight right lead, telegraphed, Tapales ducks it and scores with a straight left. Jankaew down hard. Up a second time. Tapales with a double jab and left uppercut bursting through the guard. Tapales winds up another left hand but it's too late, Jankaew already falling from the uppercut on a delayed reaction.

    KO1!!!!

Ye Olde 5 Minute RBR (and that is including all action from both co-mains combined) :sisi1

    Both were triple knockdowns, too.

Postscript: Gaballo missed weight by 1¾ lbs.

If he can no longer make bantam, it's going to be a precipitous fall for the glass cannon at 122lbs. I'm imagining Tapales vs. Gaballo for instance, and...wow. Wood-chipper, that'd be. :sisi1

(Nightmare is a bigger puncher than his record would suggest)

It's been over four months since the Inoue bout. That's pretty standard in the lower weights.
