Marlon Tanan Tapales is a 5'4 24 year old Bantamweight with a 29-2 12 KO's 1 KO loss record. Born in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, Philippines and fighting out of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, Philippines. Marlon a southpaw is a potential sleeping giant at Bantamweight, Marlon started boxing way back in 2008 at the tender young age of 16, and as expected with young kid, he got stopped in 6 rounds at the age of 17 by Brix Ray, but that can be forgiven since he was the definition of young and inexperienced, after all he'd only had 50 or so amateur matches before starting his pro career. But since his first loss, he's slowly and steadily been building up quite the resume for himself, handing fellow talented Filipino fighter Randy Petalcorin his first and only KO loss, and stopping the decent Warlito Parrenas in 7. A string of tin cans followed until he got his big shot against Mexico's David Sánchez, in many people's eyes actually did enough to earn the decision, but he was handed his second loss in the form of a MD, so what does that tell you? Most didn't give him a chance (including myself) when he was chosen to take on Japanese wunderkind Shohei Omori, and not only did he win, but he demolished him in 2 rounds, giving the lower divisions one of its bigger upsets of 2015. In 2016 he took on rugged Thai veteran Pungluang Sor Singyu, in a drama filled FOTY contender in which Marlon was badly hurt and dropped twice with body shots, and where most people would have crumbled he came roaring backfighting his way back into the match finally stopping Pungluang in the 11th round of a war. Is he flawed? Yes. Is he chinny? A little. But he has heart and willpower, and good powers of recovery and that alone can take you a long way. So Check Out Tapales The Terror Of Tubod in Action. I forgot, whoops, (I was doing a RBR when it happened) but that's what happens when you don't thoroughly check Boxrec while working on a thread at 5 in the morning, he dropped him 3 times, pardon the hell out of me.
You should do one on Leo Levani ,he is a fighter from Georgia and has a record of 9 and 0 with 4 koes
Lots of solid fights to be made for Tapales at 118. Hopefully he'll continue to be successful in the world stage. Love this guy's style and heart.
I have my fingers crossed, he's very kill or be killed in his approach, which I love, but I have a feeling he's going to have more of a Yaegashi/Takayama like career than a Gonzalez/Yamanaka.
