imo Marquez has surpassed both Morales and Barrera in ATG status, his longitivity and technical excellence playing a good part in that, also looking at all 3 resumes, its hard to say 1 is better than the other. Why can't you accept Marquez called out the best, he tried to get a fight with Pacquaio, Pac wants none of him (we all know why), so he wanted to test himself against the best, did you want Marquez to fight Mayweather for free or something? Did you even watch the interview in the ring after the Diaz fight?
Mayweather was still 'retired' at that time, that's the point. Mosley was IMO top dog at 147 when he made his shoutout but fighting Mosley would never have bought in the $$$ that's why he was calling out Mayweather because he'd be guaranteed more money. Erik Morales is making his comeback now many say it's doomed to fail, he had an agreement to fight JMM but it fell through but he was still determined to test himself against the best so apparently BEGGED to fight Maidana one of hardest hitting p4p punchers in the game, Is Maidana a huge box office draw? don't think so, i'm sure chasing a Soto would have earned Morales more money but instead he chose the more dangerous option the one where he could prove his worth...a real warrior.
Mayweather > Mosley Maidana > Soto You can't have it both ways. It seems like you are giving Morales credit for taking on a dangerous fighter, but won't give Marquez any credit for fighting the very best. Very strange logic. Of coruse the very best is gonna be a big draw, it seems like you don't want boxers to be paid.
You went and found all those scores :dead:dead:dead FFS you dumb ******, I had Marquez winning the 2nd fight aswell :deal but it wasn't a robbery, over 2 fights he hit the canvas 4 times he shouldn't be overly upset with the result, Pac gave him a rematch after the first fight and Marquez has his chance to put things right but he blew it, made it too close and the judges squeezed him out of a career defining win. Now all he has are wins over an OLD Barrera and an ancient Casamyor (both fights he was struggling in badly) Mayweather/Pac>>>>>Morales/Barrera>>>>>>Marquez
Marquez is ALL about the money, that's the issue FFS he had no problem fighting a shot to **** (yes I said it) Morales when the money was upped, he only pulled out of the fight because he found out Goldenboy was trying to rope him into a longer contract something he wanted to avoid so he could maximise his chances of another big payday (surprise) against Pacquiao. BTW there's nothing wrong with getting money, but it's hilarious when people try to paint Marquez as this Mexican blood and guts warrior who's in it for the Glory, when in reality he's a lot more like these 'slick black fighters' who get mentioned so often around here :deal
JMM is three levels above Gatti, and anyone but a stone ****** knows this. But not you. He went up to WW and took on the best fighter for the most money, and somehow you want to twist that into a bad or stupid thing? Did JMM beat up your dad and **** your mom or something?
You don't like JMM, fine. Just don't make up such stupid, idiotic reasons for it. It's enough to say you don't like him.
wrong...i think maidana took the fight cause of no other options, he just lost to amir, so a tune-up doesn't sound bad right about now, especially a good name like MORALES.... and at this point of his career, morales will fight bhop if the money was right....so even though it aint megamillions, it's still money and that next to nothing will always be the choice....
Dazed and confused Who we talking about Hatton when he got knocked out or mosley each round after round 2:rofl
You are one THICK **** atsch where did I say Gatti and Marquez are equal? I used Gatti to clearly differentiate someone who will never be considered an ATG with someone like Marquez who some people say will be an ATG when it's all done and said. See what I did? in using Gatti I was able to clearly point out how I disagreed with Marquez being an ATG? but you being a thick slug slow as horse **** thought I was saying they were the same class of fighter  Yes JMM beat up my dad, congratulations on a terrific argument.
Marquez just peaked late that's all, when Morales and Barrera were setting the boxing world on fire with their exciting fights, JMM was getting beaten by Freddie Norwood and he wondered why no one wanted to fight him at that time. Morales and Barrera fought WARS that's why they fizzed out badly towards the end of their careers JMM was relativly fresh and his body had not taken the kind of damage a Morales or a Barrera's had that's why he's still fighting at an elite level.
Had to be for the paycheck. I can't believe he thought he would be effective against a top welterweight. Just because at the lower weights he was about equal to Manny doesn't necessarily mean he can carry those skills up like Manny, but he may have convinced himself of that notion.
They are on boxrec. When you click on notes for the fights thats why they have listed. If anyone is a ****** its you. You think we cant see through your "i will disguise myself as a pbf fan so i can root for pac and seem more credible." I have seen pieces of **** like you before but they are better at what you do. Good Day!! haha
Fair enough point about the wars and peaking late, but it's not like Marquez had an easy ride to the top either, he's always been quite hitable an fires straight back once he's tagged. I mean when Barrera was getting outboxed by Junior Jones for his WBO Super Bantamweight title, Marquez was only 3-4 years into his career with only 16 or so bouts under his belt, dispite Marquez being the older man. Granted Barrera and Morales gained recognition long before Marquez, their trilogy will forever be steeped in the history of the sport, along with their other wars. But imo Marquez has at least caught up with them, a case could be made that he surpassed them. I'm forever changing my mind about these 3, ask me tomorrow an theres a chance i'll put Morales top of the 3, next week it could be Barrera. imo its difficult to call it between the 3 of them. But once you reach the elite level Marquez has reached, i feel you're deserving of high pay days, when you're taking on other elite level fighters.
