Can Mayorga make 154 and yes Berto vs Cotto would be nice, but Cotto will not see 147 ever again? I am one of the posters that think Morales should not fight Marquez. It is too soon to fight Marquez. We are talking about Morales getting down to 135 to win his fourth divisional title. Morales should take a couple more fights to find out which division he actually is going to campain in.

-blatantly ducked khan
-then rematched diaz even if he KOed him already.
-then fought another overrated brawler in katsidis. WTF?!!!

 

Before Khan Maidana, Khan was offered to JMM but he refused, reason that he doesn't want to be a stepping stone.

Translation = clear sign of ducking a fight if you ask me.

JMM should have tested the waters at 140 when Pac is fighting the big guys at welter. He could have fought a decent lww to keep up with Manny. Instead he wasted his time fighting Juan Diaz x2. Pac is already a welterweight while JMM is still at lightweight considering they are almost the same size.

 

JMM is 36 years old, a 3-Time World Champion in 3 different weight classes.

AT this stage, the veteran JMM could fight whomever he wants.

Older champions, can fight whomever they want.
Steroid-Khan needs to earn his stripes first, go through gatekeepers, before fighting JMM.

Khan is one of the top guys in the 140lbs division, why would he have to fight gatekeepers when he is considered of the best in 140lbs?

Marquez was already offered to fight Khan and he refused. As several posters here mentioned, Marquez waisted his time fighting Diaz a second time and then fighting Katsidis and now Morales! Marquez is not young and is getting older. A fight with Khan by the end of the year or early next year is just not good for Marquez but is good for Khan as Marquez gets older. Marquez should've fought some 140lbs after the Mayweather fight, maybe Ortiz, Bradley, Khan, Maidana etc..not when he is older.

I do agree that the Morales fight is mainly ($$) monetary (BIG FIGHT FOR MEXICANS AS BOTH ARE LEGENDS) but useless for Marquez since he is the one that wants to fight Pac. Fighting a past prime-past retired Morales, Diaz II and Katsidis doesnt prove anything.
