Nacho apparently made claims to the Mexican media that JMM put on too much muscle and it is inhibiting his speed. He said he looks strong at the weight and looks like a natural WW, but due to his lack of speed, he is not ready for Mayweather. Some users on ESB would rather see the fight get cancelled because of this. I would rather see what happens regardless than to actually want this fight cancelled. If anything, Nacho is using reverse psychology so Floyd will underestimate JMM's speed. Why would someone talk like that about their own boy? Would you put your boy or best fighter out there like that? That's not loyal even if their relationship is not close. Everyone knows boxing is a mental sport as well as physical. Why would Nacho purposely give up the mental edge? Fighters have been known to go in the ring with broken hands and ribs, sprains, etc and not say sh*t til after the fight cause they wanna maintain mental supremecy or competency at least. I'm betting Marquez is looking very good at the weight, especially if Nacho says he looks like a natural WW. I bet he is stronger than ever. Plus, the fight is nearly a month away. If the muscle was that much of a problem, he could lose much of it in a months time. I'm guessing that JMM will not only be strong at the weight, but surprisingly fast too. If you think Nacho would actually put JMM out there like that you probably know little about loyalty. :deal

Definetly a bluff, weightlifting wouldn't make him slower either.

Actually if he's doing more of powerlifts, as in more weight and less reps. Then yes it would make him slower

Psychological warfare has commenced. I think FMJ is too smart to fall for that, I hope.

They wouldn't have signed for the fight if they don't think they can win. After coming off two major wins they could have easily taken an easier approach and continued to make easy money before cashing out on a major fight for a big payday.

no matter what, Marquez cannot be at his best at 144

too strong, too slow, too tired, too weak, too whatever. You have to move up in weight gradually. You take a tuneup fight get accustomed to a new weight, and then you can fight the best at that weight.

There's a huge difference between moving up from 130 to 135 and fighting Casamayor, or moving up from 135 to 145 and fighting Floyd Mayweather.

thats a funny way to look at it but you may be right, top boxing trainers are about as qualified as harvard educated doctors when it comes to the understanding of the human psyche. He's an unofficial psychologist, and I wouldn't put employing it in reverse past him at all.

even if he were doing it for mayweather, I dont think it would matter, mayweather's ego is so absurdly big that no talking can break him at all, only well placed blows

Agreed. He may not be at his best at the weight but Floyd has been off for a long time and he ain't at his best either. Floyd has NEVER faced a guy quite like JMM and unless Floyd comes with a whole new game plan, he isn't using his skills to the fullest. Oscar hung with Floyd and JMM is more well rounded and better than Oscar was at that point. Sharper too. Floyd has to come down in weight and I'd rather have the freedom to move up in weight, eat well, be healthy, and not starve or dehydrate myslef. Floyd has like 2% body fat and is all muscle to begin with. Moving down can't be fun and he won't be at his best either. Who will be the better man in Sept? We will soon see.

Pacquiao didn't need a tune up when he moved up, Marquez is just looking to do the same but an even bigger fight or win if he scores it. This is his best/only chance to secure a third fight with Pac, a tune-up win sure as hell won't encourage Pac's team to consider it.
