Going by official results (wins and draws - saves us the bickering over the Marquez-Pac fight and Marquez-Vasquez III) who has the better record.

I will put what I believe are the key results in bold, and you can decide who has had the more impressive results.

    Juan Manuel Marquez:

    Casamayor TKO11
    Rocky Juarez UD12
    Barrera UD12
    Pac Man D12
    Victor Polo UD12
    Derek Gainer TD7
    Manuel Medina TKO7
    Agapito Sanchez UD12

    Rafael Marquez:

    Isarael Vasquez RD7
    Silence Mabuza RTD9, TKO4
    Mauricio Pastrana TKO8, UD12
    Tim Austin TKO8
    Mark Johnson SD10, TKO8
    Heriberto Ruiz KO3

Tell me if I have made any blatant ommisions.

I think its a tight one to call. Opinions please?????

i would have to say rafa based on his wins against prime, very good to top-level fighters like vasquez, mabuza, austin and johnson. prob w/ jmm is that when he defeated both casa and barrera, they were already very much past their prime. actually, a lot of people here consider casa as shot already. jmm's best result is still his draw w/ pac while rafa has a great win against a top p4per in vasquez. so, it's definitely rafa for me.

Very tough call, but Juan Manuel wins based on this year. L12 to PacMan is a win according to most experts (still counts as a loss) and The Ring belt in stopping Casamayor at LW - pretty damn impressive.

BTW Austin and Johnson are 2 very good wins for Rafael, and of course one over Vazquez for The Ring SBW belt. IMO both can crack into the HOF. And as brothers, they are truly the very best.

Thats what swung me towards Rafa in the end.

Austin was unbeaten, and had held the IBF title for nearly six years when Rafa disposed of him.

Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson hadn't been beaten since his second pro fight and Rafa beat him in back-to-back fights; Johnson later went on to hand Fernando Montiel his first loss.

Israel Vasquez; well we all know about him; no need to explain why thats a biggie.
